Do you see asking for help as a weekness?!

Question: Alot of **** is going on right now. Lets say if I had a plan to commit suicide do you think telling someone or asking for help is a sign of weakness and then like people would look down on you? My parents think I cut/burn myself for attention (which is not the case) so I certainly wouldn't tell them, they`d probably say something stupid like get it over with. They also have no trust for me and am fed up with my running away and previous attempts for which they called the cops to find me.

Well, why DO you cut/burn yourself? Does past negative treatment from your parents have anything to do with it, or is it something you feel compelled from inside to do? You obviously realize that there is a serious problem. I agree with the other posters. Reaching out for help, especially, when you fear retribution of some kind for it, is actually very brave. You've gotten some good tips. Call any number of the free emergency numbers in the phone book to begin with.

I don't think you really want to kill yourself, because if you did, you'd be gone already; you wouldn't have written this question, trying to find reasons to be talked out of it. You want to live, and we want you to live. Look at all the people here who don't even know you and are trying to give you helpful advice. When you are so depressed that you're considering suicide, you've got more serious matters to be concerned about then being "looked down on". Even when a lot of s**t is going down, there is help. There is always s**t in life, and there is always help. Seek it out.

Asking for help and admitting there is a problem is one of the hardest things to do. I don't consider it a weakness at all though. Instead, it takes a stong person seek help from others. I stuggle with it all the time. Keep your head up and do the right thing..

not really, it is more of a sign that you seee a problem that you dont know how to fix on your own. and are willing to let some one other then your self help you with. there are places and people that will know how to help you just look for some and think before you act. with luck some one here might know where to look for better info.

Sign of weakness to ask for help?
Never.
Takes a strong person to reach out in a time of need.
If you can't talk with your parents, try an aunt or uncle you are close with, a counsler at school, or even a hotline for mental health issues which I am sure is in your yellowbook pages.

Good luck, and definetly do not try to handle this on your own.

i always phone the smaritans when i feel down, or some helpline, they can be good,,its hard talking to people sometimes, it makes me feel better, its weakness not to do anything, things wont get better if you do nothing,

I think that getting help is the strongest thing you could do.

If someone is drowning is it a weakness to shout for help? Cutting is a psychological disorder where the person has an orgasm when they cut. If you don't have a weakness then you don't need a friend.

i do see it that way as well babes but find some one you can talk to cos it does help

Reaching out for help when you truly need it takes courage and commitment to getting better. It's not something a week person does, Go to your doctor if you have one and talk to them they should be able to help you. It takes a lot of courage to admit that you need help and that you can't help your self. I know I've been dealing with depression for a long time and there are times when my therapist is the only one who can help keep me focused and in this reality. Having a therapist is the best thing for me right now. It may also be the best thing for you at this time in your life.

absolutely NOT if anything it takes a STRONG person to realize there is a problem
