Question: Hell no! Psychiatry is much too primitive. There is no proof of any of their theories, and no way to measure to find out. Also they do not usually acknowledge the existence of the spiritual. They also have no moral compass other than the bell curve.

Are you asking if the profession of psychiatry should define what is normalness and enforce it?
The answer is, No.
But according to agreed upon standards of diagnosis it is there job to treat those who are mentally ill, and return them to a functional level of being in our society. It is defined by the DSM IV and by Mental Health Law.
