How can I stop procrastinating and start FOCUSING????!

Question: I used to do my homework right away when I got home from school. Now, I don't start until about 10pm! Sometimes I don't even do it at all! I don't know what happened to me! I just can't focus anymore! Does anyone have any tips or methods on how I can start focusing again?? (Don't tell me to get off Yahoo Answers because I'm trying to solve this here)
Thank you

I am here to help, if I can. Is there a major distraction in your life right now, that has caused you to give up on homework, & maybe other things as well? Sometimes, we get overwhelmed by distractions & lose focus, such as you have. I can only advise you to recognize anything that has gotten you sidelined where homework is concerned. Your future depends on your education, so try to get back on track, one day at a time. You have to have a positive attitude, especially where school/homework are concerned. When you get home from school from now on, tell yourself that it's time to do your homework before anything else. Do it in a part of your home that is comfortable & where there are no distractions. Do the assignments in such a way that you're used to doing them. (ie: easy assignments first, etc.) Train your thought patterns, once again, & apply yourself, so that your homework is done first, allowing you to do the things you enjoy in the evening. That will be accomplished by being both determined, as well as focused. Put a pair of "invisible" blinders on when it comes to other distractions, if you can.Tell yourself that you can do it once again, & it will set the ball in motion. Is there a parent you can talk to about how you're feeling, instead of keeping it all bottled up? If not, school councelors are there for you & it will be kept confidential. If you are deeply troubled by one or more things, discuss it with your parents/counselors/trusted adult. It kind of sounds as though you may have given up on yourself, & you don't want to do that. You're not a quitter! Take it slow, & before you know it, you'll be just as you used to be, focused & determined. You can do it!!!! Chin up!!!

same here. my grades are dropping so much. i find it hard to put any effort into anything. i hope you find the answer

great question. the weird thing is the EXACT same thing is happening to me!!!! first of all, have you been getting more homework? more stress? if you get more stress, you have to relax in order to do your homework...yoga, sports...something that relaxes you. iif you get more homework, don't be overwhlemed...and dont look at the big picture. start assignment after assignment. i always snack or chew on something when i study or do homework...it helps me focus. good luck!!!!

Here are some tips:
*turn off your computer
*find a clean quiet space to do your homework
*tell yourself you can't go out until you finish your homework
*make a delicious snack, but only let yourself eat it after you finish
*give yourself little 5 min breaks once you finish homework from one subject
*Lock the door to your quiet homework place. Don't let anyone come in to disturb you, and don't let yourself leave until you've finished everything.
Congrats!! with these steps you should be more focused. Just remember, the first step is acknowledging that you have homework and need to do it!!! Good Luck!

You need to figure out what it is causing you to procrastinate. Is it your computer, tv, video games, friends, phone . . . ? Eliminate those options. When you get home, go to a place where you know you won't do those things to keep you from doing your homework. If all those things are in your bedroom, then don't go there. Shut off your phone. After you do this for a day or two, you will see that you finished your homework way faster. You were able to get it done right away and relax the rest of your day. Wouldn't you rather do that? It it is much more of a hassle to sit around stressed about your homework then worry that it wasn't done, instead of just getting it done right away.
