I have severe bipolar disorder, and I'm 43. I'm devastated that I was never stable enough to have children. It's a knife in the heart pretty often when people go on about their babies (I'm not even into babies, I like kids better when you can talk to them). I don't get mania so bad that I'd be pretending I were pregnant, though. If I did get that bad, I'd probably imagine I were an alien or on a spacewalk or something.

Yes, I think so... it's just natural to want a baby... we have so many hormones surging through us that most women want kids... and thank goodness, or else who would populate the planet? :)

a lot do-but I don't-I have chronic health problems and cannot fairly raise a child-I don't feel deprived-I take joy in other people's children and tehn enjoy going home alone at the end of the day

Depends on whether they want them i guess, some people want children while others are happy without them, if they are unable to have them and want them, then yes, i would think they would feel deprived.

I don't think so. I think it may be a more need/attention based reaction. Females know they tend to get good attention when pregnant, and then when the babies arrive, they have something that needs them...Fulfills a basic need to be wanted and useful. But, this is coming from a woman who has no desire for children, so...it may be a slightly biased view, although I have tried to be objective.
