Psychological Breakdown?!

Question: I know someone who is 12 years old and cannot sleep without having a video playing right in front of her face. Now, this is not just some stunt -- she is laying in her bed which is about 8 feet away from my computer (where I am right now) and is having a serious breakdown because her computer broke and she cant watch a movie. By breakdown I mean she is repeating words, talking like a baby, being irrational, etc. As of this second she stopped crying because she doesn't want to do that anymore I guess. I am her brother and am not sure if A: this is a phase, or b: she has a real psychological problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Just tell me if this is a big thing or if she is just going through an attention hungry phase.

It sounds like tv is her comfort, what makes her feel safe. To be 12 and that attached to it, and unable to self-comfort, is very serious. She needs medical/therapeutic attention.

Since you're her brother, you can't taker her to a therapist, but talk to your dad, or even her school counselor (although I would run that by her first). Love her and be there for her. Bless you.

She needs professional help trouble like hers can follow her all her life if not worked out asap.

Sounds like something's wrong. It could be a reaction to something traumatic. Some people need noise while they study or try to fall asleep, but her reaction sounds like she's reverting to a younger age, not a common reaction. At a neutral time approach her about what you saw. Maybe she should speak with a school counselor. If you find out there's a problem, speak with your parents and also look online for advice on how to help her (what to say, what not to say, etc.).

Who knows what the poor girl is going through? The only thing you can do is never be mean when she does this, and always be loving and helpful to her. What else are we humans good for if we don't help one another. If we won't each other then what's the point in being here, you know?

Does she seem like she's nervous, panicking, or having hallucinations? It might not be something serious but if those symptoms are going on you need to get your parents.

she seem ill mentaly or traumatized maybe she need a psychologist

it might do her some good
hed probably give u a better insight on what she has way better then anyoen here at yahoo

That sounds like withdrawal symptoms to me. She sounds sleep deprived but I would not think from what you said that she has a psychiatric break. It sounds like she has a hard time getting to sleep because she misses the comfort of her habits.

you are a great brother.try to talk to a responsible adult this could be a lot of things from mental health to tantrum.please talk to some one you trust like teacher or preacher.you are to young to be so worried.
