Bipolar Moods-Extra Help?!

Question: I am bipolar and I've been trying to get myself out of this depression I'm in, and have been for some time. I was put on Lamictal but have not reached my final dose yet. And not really feeling any better at least not everyday. Is there anything I else I can do to help things along. I just wish I had all the energy again. I don't want to go completely manic but maybe a little hypomanic would be good, lol! j/k! I know Lamictal is supposed to stabalize me but I'm not sure how helpful it's going to be in general. I've read many people are on both Lamictal and an anti depressant for those of you how has that worked for you? Thanks!

I am Bi Polar ll. I was prescribed Lamictal, Depacote. Lexapro for depression. Klonipin for anxiety attacks. The following I do not recommend. I did this on my own. I have stopped the Lamictal & Depacote. Still on the Lexapro and Klonipin. Also. I am meditating. Taking Omega 3 Fatty Acids (fish oil). Total B complex, Vit C 1000mg at least. I'm far from where I want to be. I'm not suggesting anyone try this...this seems to be helping me more than all the drugs. But I am still taking some of the drugs.
You can do research on the internet. If you find something that, in your gut, says try it, then try it. If this doesn't make you comfortable; make an appointment with your doctor. When you get in to see her/him explain the problem and park your butt until you receive an answer that makes sense to you.
Medicine is not a be all/end all answer. Because someone has an MD behind their name doesn't mean they have all the answers. You know how you feel.
You didn't say what your final dose of Lamictal was to be. Mine was 100mg. So you start at 25mg every other day for two weeks, then begin the slow process of working up to the 100mg every day. Instructions say if you go more than three days without a dose, you have to start over. I have gone more than a couple of weeks and started back at 100mg. I don't recommend this, I'm saying nothing is absolute. Go to your doctor. If you don't get the help you feel you need. Get another doctor. Remember, they are human and they probably have never been where you are.
Good luck and God Bless

geodon works pretty good. try that

Lamictal just brings me down. I am very dull and don't care. I don't get excited about things at all when I am only taking that.
The one thing that I have found that really helps is working out. If I take some time to exercise it helps a lot. In fact, it works better than taking just the meds. You should really try it.
