DO i have ADHD?!

Question: *I'm distracted very easily. say someone is talking to me, and someone I've seen a million times walks by. I ALWAYS untentionally look up at them, and when someone is entering the room i always turn to watch them...again, unintentionally.

*I always seem to be in my own "little world". People always think I'm crazy, on crack, anti-social, etc. I've actually had people ask me if i was on something!!! and also people ALWAYS say i'm overly quiet, and i wouldn't have even realized that if no one had told me!!

*Can't stop twitching/shaking. I only realized this when it was silent in the classroom and then i notice people are staring at me and then i realized that both my legs were tapping on the floor...and my friend had to move her desk away from me because she said that i always shake her desk when i tap my foot!

*I can never focus for more than a short period of time, activities such as reading, socializing, when someone is talking to me i will get bored and zone out,

You mentioned that you know you need to see a psychiatrist and you just want our opinion. With that stated, I will give you my opinion based on looking at the DSM (which is what people use to make a diagnosis in the United States). Just to let you know, the diagnosis of ADD has been removed from the DSM. Now it is simply ADHD, but there are several types: predominately inattentive type, predominately hyperactive-impulsive type, and combined type. I'm looking at the DSM right now, and based simply on what you've said, it doesn't sound like you have the hyperactive-impulsive type. That type is characterized by blurting things out and talking excessively, as well as difficulty doing leisure activities quietly. You could have the perdominately inattentive type, but I can't really tell by what you've said. In order to have this disorder, it must be determined by a professional that you exhibit at least 6 of the following symptoms to a degree that is maladaptive and inconsistent with developmental level:
-often fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes
-often has difficulty sustaining attention
-often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly
-often does not follow through on instructions
-often avoids/dislikes/is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort
-often easily distracted by external stimuli
-often forgetful

I know all of that was long, but I just wanted to be thorough and hopefully be of some kind of help. So, I would say that there is a possibility you could have ADHD inattentive type, but not hyperactive/impulsive type.

i thought this was my post. you sound JUST like me. i have to get into a shrink and have my meds adjusted for the ADD & OCD. my husband gets SO annoyed with me because he will tell me something, i will acknowledge what he said, but will immediately forget what he said, or i will swear up & down he never told me anything.
it's kinda scary!
sounds like ADD to me. i know i don't have ADHD, because i don't have the hyperactivity part of it, but sounds like you could have ADD to me.
get it checked out. good luck!
