Psychologically , why can't I find a job ?!

Question: I don't seem to want to "find" a job . Don't get me wrong . I'm not lazy or stupid . I was in the honors role for couple of semesters and admist my depression and anxiety , I did manage to graduate with an engineering degree with a 3.26 g.p.a . I want to know the connection between my family and me not having the desire to find a job .

Recently ( a year ago ) I came to a big realization of how dysfunctional my family was and had to fight depression and anxiety using research and working out daily . In about 2 weeks I am moving to another state ( texas ) with my uncle , So I can start over again . I really need a job in my field ( engineering ) before getting there.

You've become accustomed to assuming the "victim" role, and use your past as convenient excuse for your failure to move on with your life and become a fully functioning, fully independent adult.

I'm gonna go with "self-defeating personality disorder" on this one. Seems to me that you need to go see a shrink.

You are headed in the right direction. You have a good education and ambition to be somebody and I believe you will. Once you leave your parents you will be in a better frame of mind. You are the one who had to study and you did and you made it- Don't stop there. Please try to understand as dysfunctional as your family are - they are still family. Be cordial yet move on to a better horizon. YOU CAN DO THIS !!Best Wishes.
