Are hallucinations a sign that you are losing your mind?!

Question: I see things that aren't there. I sometimes will think that people are walking next to me, but no one is there. Sometimes I hear someone calling my name and then no one is there.

Sometimes but not necessarily... it could just be lack of sleep or an interaction between any medicines/herbs you might be taking.

Your psychologist is way out of line and you should stop going to him... he is violating your HIPPA rights.

Hallucinations are common for people with schizophrenia, though they can also occur in SEVERE depression and some physiological conditions (e.g., high fever, dementia).

I agree with Michele's answer. Also are you taking any sorts of drugs, prescription or street drugs? That could cause it. Or even severe lack of sleep.

Like Michele said, people in depression, who suffer from social anxiety, post traumatic depression, will feel this way.

You need to get a exam by an MD to make sure it's not related to a physical condition. If not, the doctor can refer you to a good psychiatrist - not a psychologist.

There is probably a physical reason for this. Go see a doctor.

They are often a sign that you are developing a schizotypal disorder, which requires immediate, expert diagnosis, and treatment, because it will almost certainly get progressively worse, otherwise. Consult your doctor, ASAP, and ask for an urgent referral, or contact your county/local mental health agency, now.

Has anything in your life changed reciently ? Have you started any new meds or are you going off any meds ? There are a number of things that can cause you to experence the things that are happening to you ! I would see a Dr. and tell him/her the rest of the symptoms you are having ! the sooner the better !

well it could be schizophrenia it could be from depression. you should call a psychologist they can tell you by examining you.

or
Maybe did you do some drugs? drugs can lead to hallucinations to.

It could be what the other ppl said.
Or it could be as simple as seeing a departed loved one.

Growing up it thought that I was crazy because I saw people others didn't see. When I saw my relatives that had died I realized what was happening.

* I told my doc about it and got the same reaction. I went to another doc, and she was understanding. Find a different doctor. They can't treat you like that.
I was in the bathroom doing my hair one day, and heard someone calling my name from another room. but no one was there, and no one was home.

also i heard that those can be allergic reactions to drugs
