I think too much!!!?!

Question: It is a problem because it contributes to loss of sleep. No matter what, I can't stop thinking, and well my thoughts keep me awake. Is there a way to stop thinking, a way to get to sleep easier???

Maybe you're a compulsive thinker. Lots of us are. I find if I concentrate on relaxing my body muscles and especially the back of the throat, your brain stops talking long enough for you to fall asleep.

I also got myself a little memorex voice recorder that I keep by my bed for the really important things that pop in your head just as you're falling asleep! It's amazing how you can relax when you know you've managed to capture that thought and don't have to work on it anymore.
(cost me $30 and worth every dime)

try getting tested for add or adhd and see what that brings you...
i find that if i take sleeping tablets then i will be able to stay up for days but if i take coffee then i am out very quickly find the right stimulant that will help you (like they use on ADHD and ADD kids) for us they word differently and help slow things down

Good luck

A bullet to the brain bucket works well !

I know what you mean. It's like the gears are going too fast and there is no off switch.
Sometimes a hot shower helps, sometimes melatonin and sometimes Tylenol PM helps.

You might need to do some workouts that will get you so tired that you drop off to sleep as soon as you hit the bed. Also, stop reading, eating or talking in bed. You need to condition your mind to know that bed means sleep time.

Watching boring news items on TV could get you sleepy too. Alternatively, you could imagine you were in church.

Sounds like it could be compulsive thinking or anxiety. Talk to your doctor about something for sleep or a benzo for anxiety.

There are a number of factors that may be contributing to such a problem. For example, they may be dietary - do you consume a lot of caffeine, for instance? Stimulants are well known to cause symptoms of hyperactivity such as racing thoughts. It may also be due to an underlying psychological problem, such as ADHD (in which there may be problems with concentration, and hyperactivity), anxiety (if the thoughts are compulsive, stress-related or stressful) or even depression, which may cause predominantly negative repetitive thoughts that can be difficult to control. All of these may also cause sleep difficulties. These are only a few ideas that come to mind, and I would recommend you see a doctor if it is a problem and is affecting your life (sleep loss can have a very big impact on the mind, as anyone knows!). Your doctor will be able to work out what is causing your "over-thinking", and suggest ways in which you can overcome or treat it. Good luck, hope you can get a good night's sleep soon!!
