How to reverse depression?!


Question: I know I have it fairly well. I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach and a family that stands by me no matter what. I also go to school and have a job. My only problem is that life seems to be spiraling downward, dragging me into a depression. I have no girlfriend which I think adds to the depression. How do I pull out of my nose dive? How do I solve my depression

(I know I need to get a girlfriend....... don't give me that answer)

It seems that you have a good background and family, good living and luxury, but i think the reason why you feel boredom is because you have the same rotation everyday. School, work, and family. And you said that maybe you feel that because you don't have a girlfriend right?

Well, for me the best way is that you should improve your social life or yourself, go out and mingle with friends. Go for a party, vacation or visit other places. Change you lifestyle to a new one and with that maybe you can find it beneficial. Just enjoy your self to find it easy.
And i do believe that you can find a right girl in a right time, right age, and place. Good luck to you and bless you!

well, a frontal lobotomy would fix the depression . . . among other things. jk

get a job. works for me. 16 hours a day of hard labour out on the farm and i dont have time to think about life, the universe, etc...

If it is truly depression, getting a girlfriend will not cure it.
Studies have shown that exercise is one way to combat depression. Being in light - sunlight- is also another way.
If it doesn't go away after a reasonable amount of time, it'd be beneficial to see a counselor, who can diagnose whether you truly suffer from depression. If it is a fact, there are meds. to help, which go hand in hand with counseling.
Some people live with the condition without needing counseling, as it may just be a chemical imbalance in the brain.
There are tests that can be found online to help you with your quest of distinguishing if you truly have depression.
Also: keeping your mind busy, and / or having a girlfriend, are not cures to depression. Although they are things that can make you feel good, if you truly have depression, you still will - even with "feel-goods" in your life.

Depression can strike anyone, regardless of any social status or whether or not they have any relationship/economic/etc problems. Look at Sir Winston Churchill, for instance, who suffered recurrent depression throughout his life. Although depression may be "reactive" (in that it can be caused by relationship problems, for example), it can also have no obvious cause, and may be due to an underlying biological vulnerability. I would recommend speaking to your GP about what you have been experiencing, and he/she may suggest medication, or may suggest seeing a Psychologist/counsellor, with whom you can discuss anything in your life that you think may be causing or adding to your depression. Depression IS reversible, but first you need to find the root causes of your depression (whether they are primarily biological, psychological, or environmental) to begin on the road to recovery. The best place to start would be with your GP, or perhaps a school counsellor, and remember to be honest with them. Good luck =)
