Questions about SSI??!

Question: My friend gets SSI for her son who has autism. Her income is kinda low but she does work full time. The lady doing her case told her that any child support from her ex husband would be considered her son's income( even though he is 7). I know child support is for the kids but doesn't it go to the parent to help take care of the children. The lady told her that her income and child support are seperate incomes and that child support is the income of the child and not the parent. The lady has only been her case worker for a month and before all of this, she had no problems. None of the other case workers ever told her that. Is it true?

Child support is support for the child but does not count as income for the child, it is used by the guardian to provide care. Sometimes they do use this to base what SSI the person receiving it is eligiable for, I would definetly ask for a supervisor, just to make sure none of the childs benefits are going to be cut.

Child Support is for the child However if she has been getting it anyway how can someone be so dam evil and take it away! Sounds like a hater!
