Am I having Panic Attacks? What can i do?!

Question: Every now and then, i have these fits of extreme jitteriness. It's usually brought on by a stressful situation (most recently the SAT test)
I begin to have feelings of being EXTREMELY overwhelmed with stress and anxiety. I begin to take abnormally deep breaths and i kinda lose control sometimes like i want to knock something down. During this fit, i sometimes yell feeling that it might alleviate the stress. Also, i feel very mentally overwhelmed, like with a lot of mental dialouge and stuff.
This usually only lasts for like 45 seconds or a minute.
Is this normal stress...or something worse?

Consider yourself lucky. When I have panic attacks I get to the point where I have seizures, hallucinations, or black out. On top of that I also had the same symptoms you described in yourself. It just seems like you have a less severe case.

If you have hereditary illnesses in your family (any chemical imbalances), feel like you are overburdened to the point where you start losing conciousness, or if you actually physically start throwing things -you should probably see a pyschiatrist. But if your anxiety is not so frequent, short-spanned, and your breathing excercises help you get over it, it sounds like normal stress to me. You could be lacking the right nutrients in your body -vitamins. As corny as it sounds, vitamins actually help.

only a minute? if you're having panic attacks, be grateful they're so short. mine last a good half hour, and because I often hyperventilate, i often lose the ability to move my limbs for a while. either way, you should see a counselor if you're so stressed.
