I'm a psych tech and I've worked with patients who cheek their medication on a daily basis, thinking it was right to do. Well it isn't! And things aren't pleasant when you get caught! Just to let you know, it is called Cheeking your medication. Which is not a good thing at all! I understand how you feel that you mother would listen to you and only listening to the doctors orders. I say don't cheek your medication and sit your mother down and explain to her how the side effects make you feel. Well is there any way you can contact your psychiatrist and tell him or her about your side effects so they can prescribe you different kind of medication? I know your mother said your grounded if you don't take the medication but lying to her isn't a good decision either. If she finds out later what you have been doing, shes going to be more angry for what you did. Your mother needs to be more understanding and should learn to listen to how you feel. No one except yourself knows how you feel inside and only you can express how you truly feel about something. Good Luck!

all meds are not good for all people. sometimes you may have to try several until you find one that works. tell your doctor and he will try something else and tell the truth, it only hurts you in the end.my brother did that for years and never took his meds. he got worse and now is to far gone. be glad you are getting help not everyone can. there is nothing wrong with seeking help. nothing! what you are doing does not make you smart or cute it makes you ignorant. do the right thing.

I took Zoloft for depression, and it really helped me. I didn't have any side effects at all. I only took it for 6-7 months and was much better.

go back to the doc and get a diff drug..............some work right away.some take a couple of weeks to kick in.................

if your mom doesn't listen to you when you tell her that the pills don't help you, you should get your psychologist to talk to her. you shouldn't feel forced to take medication that is not right for you.

Call your doctor and have him/her talk to your mom. If they're giving you bad side effects, there's a dozen others that you can try. But be honest with your doctor, don't fib about anything, otherwise you will get stuck with a med that will make you feel bad and it'll be your fault.

If the psychiatrist is saying that they are the wrong meds for you get him to tell your mum, im guessing that if she is told by a professional she will actually listen and not make you take them. I took zoloft for 5 years and it was great, but alot of people get bad side effects from anti depressants and need to try a few until they find the right one!
Make sure you tell your psych that you lied when you saw him, he WILL understand, thats what they are there for, they know that some people will lie or stretch the truth, once they find out it was a bit of a lie you told about certain things they will re asses everything, you may need a different type of med, you may need none at all. Don't tongue the pills, those things are damn expensive (lol) and atleast once your mum is told by the psych that you dont need them she'll save the money on them too!
Good Luck :)

Zoloft made me extremely suicidal. It does that to some people usually under age 24. The FDA has even issued a warning about it. Show your mother some articles on the internet about that. Tell her to at least let you not take your medicine until she has researched the medicine more and you have a chance to talk it over with the doctor.

Prozac is the only SSRI antidepressant approved for use in children in the UK. There is a reason for that. But be careful of weight loss with prozac.
