How do you bipolar folks deal with nausea from lithium?!
Question: I'm only taking 900 mg of lithium, and I am nauseated all the time. I feel nauseated just looking at the pills now because I associate them with it. I'm not sure I even want to take them anymore, because they aren't helping.
However, I do want to know if anyone has figured out how to reduce or eliminate the nausea. I take them right after dinner but the food doesn't help.
Thanks!

i flippin feel you seriosly....i have the same issue.......i went down to 600 because of the nausea and i was pretty stable but i been outta wack lately so i had to increase again.....luckily this time around has been better.......cuz first time was badddd.........try taking them before bed, right before you go to sleep, thats what i would do.....i would be a bit nauseated when i woke up but not as long and if it gets too bad i chug a little pepto bismal but its definately not good to do that on a regular basis
I would have to puke after eating maybe once a day...and then eventually the nausea went away.
I have that problem sometimes.
Recently I had a bad case of the flu. Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, the works. Anyway, I called my doc and he called in a script for Promethazine 25mg.
After I had recovered from the flu the Lithium induced nausea kicked in one day. Just to see, I popped a Promethazine and it took care of the problem.
My shrink is thinking of changing my meds but until then I don't have to suffer from the nausea.
