Is it possible to be depressed and not know it?!

Question: I am 22 and have a lot of stress. I am have memory loss, lack of sleep, lack of energy, confusion, irritated all the time, mood swings, and so much more. I went to 2 docs and they both told me I was depressed right away. But I don't feel like I am stressed out yes but not depressed at least not like I used to get. I was diagnosed with manic depression yrs ago but I don't feel now what I felt then. I know all the signs are the same but is that nessisarly depression? Tell me what you really think weather I want to hear it or not.

Honestly, I think doctors have a tendancy to over-diagnos "depression." If you're 22 and in college, you're bound to have a ton of stress....when you're stressed out, you don't sleep well, so you're bound to have less energy, and a harder time remember things, because you're brain isn't functioning at 100%. When you're tired, you're usually more prone to headaches (and then get irritated)....or you're more prone to moodswings...because you're TIRED!

Stress itself can be causing all your symptoms. You may have an anxiety issue, or its just typical growing up/school/work type stuff.

There are some great herbal remedies for stress, but sleep should be a priority. Make sure you're not doing too much caffein, schedule some R&R time for yourself, and maybe do a detox (eat lots of veggies, lots of water, cut down on sugar, etc), and I'm sure you'll feel a lot better. Maybe treat yourself to a soak in a bubblebath or a massage.

Your doctors are the professionals, please listen to them. It absolutely sounds like depression.
There are many, many people who have suffered and many, many who are suffering from depression and don't know it.

Well it is very possible to be depressed and not know it go to keyword type in depression and u will find a site that u can read upon it more then u take a long look and see how many of the symptoms u have

No its not

My depression manifested itself as a dread and hate of my job and my home life.
What made it worse was working mandatory overtime without having any extra work to do.
So there I was....hating work and hating home.
I only felt good at the halfway point of my commute.
I also developed insomnia....I could easily fall asleep, but I'd wake up way too early. Some nights I would sleep only 2 hours.
