OCD is a notoriously difficult condition to treat, so any type of medication is going to take a considerable amount of time to work, if indeed it works at all. I would say with fluoxetine you're unlike to notice any changes in your obsessive/compulsive symptoms until at least 2-3 months into treatment. From then on you may see a gradual improvement up until a point. It has also been shown that higher doses of antidepressants are needed to treat OCD, so you may need to be very patient with this one. Another thing that I would bear in mind is that the fluoxetine will only alleviate the worst of your symptoms, so don't expect miracles.
i thnk that is prozac which is prescribed for many conditions and it can takeabout 3 weeks before it kicks in.
It is a generic for Prozac.
it is def prozac.i was on that for years.its really good.its also good to get off when you feel ready.i am now on peroxetine /seroxat/ which again is really really good for ocd but very hard to get off.give the prozac a good go because its less addictive than the other.gud luk.it is very frustrating isnt it.
I started on a low dose of Prozac as well. I have been on it for a month and can tell a difference. I noticed a change in about 2.5 weeks. I also began exercising and it has reduces the energy from the anxiety. All the energy is put towards something positive instead of something negative.
