How can you tell when somebody is lying?!

Question: my science teacher was telling us about how when his 2 kids were younger he could always tell when they were lying.
he said some people get sweaty palms and cold and clammy hands, and others faces get flushed.
he said there was ONE thing that was 90% accurate that his kids were lying by just looking at their eyes,
i guessed part of it, and it was not blinking at all, or blinking alot...

how can YOU tell when somebody is lying?
(and what is the other part of what i didnt guess??)

There are certain clues when someone's lying.
-their pupils dilate slightly
-they refuse to look at you, or look at you but immediately look away
-their hands get sweaty
-their voice wavers or is flat
-they make nervous movements, like playing with their hands

like if a person hesatates or looks away. Somethimes you just know if you know them that well.

i heard that when peopel lie they often look to the left.
i never really pain much attention soo i m not sure if its true.
but if they aren't looking you in the eyes most liekly they are lying.

Well, if some one looks away, hesitates, smiles, laughs, blinks a lot or widens their eyes then they're probably lying.

Low eye contact and tilting your head to the left.

The general fact is when a person says something but his brain finds out that he is saying something that contradicts the reality or truth then he subconsciously acts abnormal. The easy way to figure it out is to see whether the person is looking at your eyes directly or not. If he's lying then he might not directly look at you. But it doesn't mean that someone not directly looking at eyes means that he's lying. Anomaly could happen.
A person could also sweat while lying.

In your techer's case the kids were found lying. When people stay in tender ages they don't learn the art of deception. But people can learn it. If they learn it then normal people won't be able to tell that he's lying. So kids are easily caught at lying. But adults may not be caught. So basically it depends.
I hope it helps.

As you've seen thus far, there are several ways to tell if a person is lying.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work with psychopaths or sociopaths. Some of them deceive so well, they can even pass lie detector tests.

if they start to stutter just to answer your question or if they take a long time to answer then they are

They stutter.
They exaggerate the tone in their voice.
If they're not looking me in the eyes.
