View the techniques for control of panic attacks, in section 8, at ezy build, below. Begin by holding your breath for 5, or 10 seconds: this will give you the confidence to realise that YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR BREATHING, but not pass out, or die (your autonomic nervous system resumes breathing, if unconscious). Understand panic attacks, and what triggers them, in your life (if it is unresolved anxiety, see section 6). The paper bag method works for most people: try it. If you are fairly suggestible, the following are reliable: http://www.hypnosisdownloads.com/
Your last alternative is psychotherapy, to address its fundamental cause: read section 1, and examine the http://www.1-800-therapist.org/ website, and use the locators, and phone book. I used to suffer from panic attacks, until I questioned what had changed recently in my life, to trigger them? I suggest that you learn, then practise the controlled breathing technique, until competent, then employ it, at the very first sign of a panic attack. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: "Even though I sometimes suffer from panic attacks, I deeply and completely accept myself." ~~~ View Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on pages 33 - 34, and examine the http://www.1-800-therapist.org/ website, and use the locators in section 1, and phone book, and/or various associations for psychiatrists and psychologists, to find the nearest one using EMDR therapy. ~~~ See anxiety treatments, at ezy build (below) in section 6. Set yourself a fixed limit for worrying about any particular subject, (say; 10, or 15 minutes) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even consider that subject again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. Use the technique for reprogramming negative thoughts and internal monologue (self talk), on pages 2, and 2L, to help you in this: some people carry a wide rubber band in their pocket: put it on their wrist; stretch, and release, as a means of reinforcing it, and speeding up the process, re-pocketing it afterwards, but I regard this as being purely optional. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. ADD is addressed in sections 22 - 25. Everyone should take the Omega 3 supplements, or preferably "krill oil" for its other health benefits: use the searchbar at http://www.mercola.com/

meditation will help you a lot join some good yoga class where you can learn yoga and meditation.

it helped me, i live a normal life and very easy to do

Yeah I know how you feel. My mom is convinced the only way to treat anxiety/depression is through pills. Because of this I've been on meds for the past 4 years. I do not agree with her methods. I do not think meds solve everything. As such I've been on and off antidepressants. Let them know you get bad symptoms from the meds and isn't there another way.

Therapy may be more beneficial, or you can ask them if you can try to battle it on your own. Meditation, exercise, journaling, talking to others, etc can help.

Good luck.

OK slow down & take a few deep breaths. First if everyone including your psychiatrist thinks you need meds then maybe you do. Don't worry! Taking meds is no big deal & often the benefits far outweigh the unwanted side effects, meds can work wonders to settle all your symptoms down & put you on a more even keel. I know meds alone does not solve problems but sometimes neither does therapy alone either. You need to do both. It takes about 6 weeks for meds to start working anyway, in the meantime you can go to therapy, then when you start to settle your moods you can cut back on the meds & use the skills you've learnt in therapy to help with your symptoms. Meds will not "undo" any of the therapy you have already done, it will just make you more level headed to use your learned skills better. I realise you want to be able to say "I did it on my own" but do you really want to take the risk & go down further? Use it to your advantage to get the best possible result you possibly can for yourself. I do know exactly how you feel. I feel like the biggest hypocrite here myself-I'm a recovered addict, with Borderline Personality Disorder & Bipolar & currently still on Suboxone Pharmacotherapy (simiar to a Methadone program), yet I've been through 14 months of intense psychological therapy & I'm now 1/3 of the way through a Professional Counselling Diploma & at TAFE (College) studying Alcohol & other Drugs Work to become a drug & alcohol counsellor, plus I facilitate SMART recovery group meetings to help other addicts. Apart from the Suboxone I need antidepressants & mood stabilisers too . But do you know what? I don't feel guilty at all! The meds are helping me have this good life, I don't think my life would be at this stage if I wasn't taking meds. So, don't feel guilty, take advantage of the meds, use them for as long or as little as you have to & then slowly ween off them when you're ready & when your life is really settled. Think of the positive side of having your doctor & family so involved, I didn't have any support. See the good side!

I know this is hard to believe because I thought the same thing. But it's amazing how much better you feel on med. It really does make a difference. There is no way I would go back to the old me. Getting the right meds. takes time. Don't give up.

I just know for me that I had abrain injury and I have to take my meds and if I didnt ytake my pain meds for my athritoies I wont be able to move and I AM NOT THAT OLD i MAY SEEM VERY OLD TO YOU BUT i DONT THINK THAT WAY BECAUSE OF THE BRAIN INJURY i HAVE TO TAKE MY MEDS AND i AM BI POLAR TOO i DONT DO WELL WHEN I DONT TALK MY DEPAKOTE AND MY OTHER MEDS ::/here they are
