Can your mind ever truly let go?!

Question: I have tried different techniques to stop my mind from taking me into the abyss that is negative thinking. However, I cannot stop it. I was wondering is it more deep rooted..is it a case of my sub concious not being able to get rid of all the hurt and anger that I hav just accepted and failed to deal with over the years. Is my mind telling me I have unfinished business by constantly falling into this stinging negaivity and reliving everything that people have said or done to me..

Yes..your mind can let go...when you give it permission to. In something like negative thinking, you have programmed yourself to think negatively. To change this, you must stop yourself and think more positively. Yes, negative will try to take back control, because the mind is used to it. This may take awhile to deprogram, but it can be done. The brain is like a computer's hard drive and the program you are trying to override has a virus in it and continues to come to the surface until you delete it completely. It takes time and patience...but it is worth it.

I feel the same.

it's hard, i know. what helps me is envisioning the old movie theater i used to go to whan i was young. i start at the front door and work my way in remembering all the details i can think of. many people say to think of a blank movie screen but i had to take it a step further. it's a temporary fix but it helps to get me away from the negativity.

Wow, it sounds like someone has Saturn in their birthchart.
Are you born between Nov-Jan?

Pessimism can be a sign of depression.
Daily meditations can help but if you're anything like I am then it's always a task and very seldom just happens simply.
I've come to accept it as part of myself and a huge influence by the planet Saturn (finding that out gave me the chance to look at astrology for days that are good to work with)

Some people are naturally very cheerful and some aren't ( I also had reasons from my past in the equation)

It's always a work in progress but for the most part now I'm really really happy.

Sending a little shunk and loads of possitive thoughts your way!
Don't give up =)

If you can, go see a reputable astrologer and have a birth chart reading done. I tried EVERYTHING including studying psychology and this was where i found the most relief and answers!

In meditation, the trick it to not control thoughts, just to observe what is there and let it be. Thoughts are just babble that comes and goes. As you focus on relaxing and breathing, your thoughts will naturally have less "grip" on you. Meditate daily, it will make a difference. Decide on something like 5 minutes a day for 2 weeks. Then continue if you think it is valuable.

This is a very good question. I have tried everything to stop the negative stuff. I had a very traumatic child hood and mental abuse from the time I was an infant. For me I cope with medication for depression and do the best I can. I don't play well with others, never did. I wish I had a better answer for you. I am what I am and have learned to accept me negative stuff and all. It is all I got to give you.
