Why have I been experiencing sleep paralysis EVERY night for the past year or so!

Question: For about a year or so I have been experiencing very disturbing sleep paralysis every night. Almost the second I lay down to goto bed I become paralyzed for about 10 seconds, five times per night. I hear demonic noises, I see things. I know that these are supposed hallucinations, however I am just SO annoyed with it, and usually frightened. It really is starting to take a toll on me, and making me not want to go to bed. Sometimes I stay up for nights upon nights just so that I won't have to experience this.
Just to give a little detail usually I hear a windy sound in my ears. I feel a lot of pressure on my head (around my temples) and my chest. Then I start to hear creepy moaning sounds, demon-like. I can't move, scream, or even cry. About ten seconds later I'm not paralyzed but very traumatized. This has been happening about 5 times a night for a little over a year.
Someone please help me, or tell me what I should do or why this is happening to me.
Thank you.

Hi Erika. Clonazepam has been effective to treat sleep paralysis for many people. However I am very concerned about what you describe. You are having far too many episodes and suffering too much. I understand why you would want to avoid sleep but sleep deprivation only makes this condition worse. Very shortly, it could also affect your mental abilities while awake.

You should make an appointment asap with a doctor. Please make an appointment to get some immediate help. Thanks and good luck. I attached a link below. Here are a few excerpts.

"Several studies have concluded that many or most people will experience sleep paralysis at least once or twice in their lives. Many people who commonly enter sleep paralysis also suffer from narcolepsy. There are several factors that increase the likelihood of both paralysis and hallucinations. These include:
Sleeping in an upwards supine position
Irregular sleeping schedules; naps, & sleep deprivation
Increased stress
Sudden environmental / lifestyle changes
A lucid dream that immediately precedes the episode.

Treatment
Clonazepam is highly effective in the treatment of sleep paralysis. Ritalin has been used successfully as a daytime medication to promote structured sleep patterns and the prevention of sleep paralysis in some adults".
