Sorry to hear you're feeling this way. Did any specific event cause this? Major changes in your life?

If you're in college, there should be free counseling services offered. If not, yes it does cost a lot of money but part of depression is feeling like you ARE a burden to many people. While the cost is high, consider that the benefits of seeing someone about it are greater. Those feelings/thoughts aren't going to go away on their own. Getting help will make you feel better and thats more important right now. I suggest you do it as soon as you can because thinking about dying is not good at all and you don't want to do anything to harm yourself in any way. Do you have insurance? Maybe they'll pay for it.

Now, telling someone about how you feel is hard. Choose someone who won't be critical and/or judgemental of you, a really, really good friend or family member. Its hard to do but it must be done. Just be open and let them know exactly how you've been feeling, whats been going through your mind and that you feel that perhaps you need some professional help and would like them as emotional support.

In the meantime, try doing things that do bring you joy, even though sometimes with depression you may not feel happy doing things that once did make you happy, but try to anyway. Try surrounding yourself with good positive people who aren't going to make you feel worse about yourself.

I hope you get better and get the help you need.

hi,
depression is a 3-headed snake: helpless, hopeless, worthless. search out the subconscious thoughts you're having and see if they align with those themes.

if your good friend is well-cultured and mannered, they will be kind about your feelings.

another thing to consider: you can actually save money for society by seeing a doctor-- untreated depression takes a huger toll.

oh... and don't let people try to talk you out of at least TRYING meds. they can be an incredible help to certain people. there's lots of different meds, different people.

dont feel bad for getting help, they would rather spend money then see u hurting, trust me. maybe therapy would be good. its bad cause the meds doctors prescribe for depression can actually make it worse, i wouldnt reccommend taking anything. outside of the doctor, just try to change your daily life. do something u really enjoy everyday. talk to your mom or dad, they will be able to help u.

my advice would be to see a doctor and take their advice, the cost would be well worth it if it helped you to feel better. it can be a good idea to share your problems with others as it may make them more understanding of your needs and offer you support. make sure you only confide in people you trust though.

You might or might not have depression, but you sure sound unhappy and you don't need to live like that. You need at least to talk to someone professional about your feelings. See what social agencies there are in your area, you might find someone you can see for free, at least to get started. Feeling you're not worth any effort is part of your problem; I'd bet your friends and family don't see it that way. Open the phone book and call someone. Go!

i live day to day in a hopeless, helpless and despairing state - sometimes i think to myself - "i'll be glad when it's over" - whether that's a sign from my death instinct or my life preservation i don't know.

but the majority of people is in this kind of trouble, sooner or later it'll come knocking on their door as u can't fill yer head up with shyte, like work etc, all the time in yer life.

i spend a lot of my time thinking which isn't good really but it sure beats putting up with the lies, deceipt and unhappiness of society and other people. but thikning about things can be good at least you become a strong person, confident where the most essential things like trust and honesty play a major part

so really i guess find a compromise between the 2 if that's possible

p.s. if u end up going to dox make sure they don't give u things u don't want - they might end up making u worse than u already are - i don't trust doctors of all people

i know exactly how you feel. because i have been there. i didnt want to tell people because i was afraid of how they would react. so i hid it... and it got worse. much worse. and suddenly the thoughts of suicide became more real almost a reality. so keeping it hidden or ignoring the problem will not help you. i know i did that and ended up in the hospital surrounded by psyhciatrists and doctors trying to help figure out what was wrong.

so... find someone you absolutely trust. and tell them a little about how you have been feeling... see how they react. if they are cool then tell them the rest. its amazing how just talking to someone can make everything seem a little less depressing and dark. good luck i hope you figure this out.
