Is it difficult for you to imagine burying...?!

Question: relative after relative until you reach old age? I just lost someone very dear in my family tonight and I dont understand how we are to continue losing family members throughout life. What is the secret to handling the stress?

Loss is a horrible pain. It's going to take time to heal. In the process, take care of yourself. Don't neglect the regular of routine of life (it can be a good distraction). Allow yourself to grieve. Allow yourself to reminisce and laugh, smile, or cry over the things you remember. Give yourself a way to vent your emotions like through exercise or creative outlets (dancing, daydreaming, journaling, talking to yourself about how you feel, any form of art, etc.). Love people deeply, but be able to let go because they can't stay forever. You can keep them alive through photos, videos, and memories. It's okay to feel sad and to cry, but allot a certain amount of time to those emotions, say 15 minutes, then find something to distract yourself so you don't become depressed. The pain of losing someone is very real and very deep. Years later I still cry over pets and loved ones I've lost. There's nothing wrong with that.

I hope this helps.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my father roughly 2 years ago and am still struggling with it. As time goes by, it becomes somewhat easier to handle, but never fully goes away. Just try not to think about having to bury anyone else close to you right now. You need this time to start healing from your loss and dwelling on death and others who are close to you dying will only prevent you from moving on with your life.

you just keep living, and think of the person and soon enough the sorrow goes away. just take time .

I have lost the vast majority of my family members. It isn't easy, but it is a part of life.

We have to learn how to cope and to have a great faith. When we believe that there is a place we go to, and will all reunite in (Heaven) then it makes losing people much easier in a sense.

That's why having a relationship with God is so important.

You keep people alive by remembering the good they did and the love they shared. You treat those still living well and tell them you love them when you see them.

Are you a religious person? One of the main purposes of religion is to help us find comfort in the face of human mortality. If you believe that the spirit lives on after death, it helps you go on with your life on Earth. If you don't have any belief then you can pray for guidance.

All bodies eventually cease to function=death. Be glad that your body is healthy enough to continue. Make younger friends, and keep in contact with younger family members to keep your chin up.

it hurts. i feel it too. time is the only sure cure. start to talk to your close members of your family and talk about the good things the person done and release the emotions. there are no easy answers.

I lost my uncle last week and I was in the same mind frame as you are now. Actually, I still am. My brother mentioned that all of our aunts and uncles are going to start (excuse his words) "dropping like flies" in the next years to come and I know it is true...they are all reaching that age. For me, I just focus on all of the times spent with that loved one. All of the laughter and fun...even the serious and not so great times....and I'm happy to be able to remember such an amazing person being in my life....don't forget that it will be normal to cry and want to reach out and talk to someone about missing a loved one. Always find a friend to talk to or a relative....it helps to talk about it.
