Why does this happen??!


Question: Every month or so there is one week that i sleep at 10:00PM and always wake up at exactly 5:30AM for at least 4 days and I don't know how to stop it. I get cranky at people alot and feel really bad. Can anyone help me, I am 15 and I try to go to sleep but can't. Maybe it is stress but I haven't had anything really stressful to worry about. HELP!!!!!!!

Male or female, at 15 you're at the mercy of your hormones. They control almost all of your body functions. Since you are in the middle of them really starting to get going, you can experience all sorts of off days. Anything from growing pains to sleepless nights, to sleeping all the time. It is perfectly normal part of growing up. If you are feeling cranky, let people around you know that you are feeling that way, and that you need to be by yourself until it passes. That way, you don't say or do things that can cause you to feel bad.

It happens, but the more you think about it the worse it gets, i suggest you try relaxing and think about something you want to dream of...it'll lead to your sleepiness.

If you are a female - you can chalk it up to your hormonal cycle. It will impact your sleep in various ways and there isn't a lot you can do about it except relax and realize it is normal.

10pm-5:30am is plenty of sleep.

You need to focus your energy else where. Seems like you created a bad habit. I recommend running and taking a shower before you sleep.

i think you should try sleeping later, that could change the cycle,
This happens to me sometimes, 1 week i go to bed at 1:30am in the morning and i wake up at exactly 6:30am..this goes on for about a week unless.. i go to sleep much later or earlier. i guess whatever time you go to sleep one day continues on untill i mess it up, and it changed so i end up waking at different/earlier times.

7.5 hours of sleep is actually not enough for a 15 year old. You should be getting between 8-9 hours a night according to sleep research.

Try starting there. Just go to bed 30 minutes earlier. When you are stressed, try chamomile tea or even a homeopathic sleep aid like "Calms Forte" - you can get that at any drug store or Wal-Mart.
