Ways to combat depression and anxiety?!


Question: I was diagnosed with depression almost 5 years ago with depression (almost 22 years old now). I have been on an antidepressant since then called Cipralex.

The meds help to an extent.

Besides that, what other techniques/ways can I combat depression, anxiety and negative feelings on my own?

try some relaxation exercises. deep breathing and imagery .

for the depression you need to get good constant rest, eat healthy as much as possible and also get out in the sunlight. Sunlight can help immensely. For the severely depressed they often have a ultraviolet light for the winter months because of the lack of sunshine but whenever you have it open your windows let it shine in your house.

If you follow these simple things your depression will lessen and for the anxiety try the relaxation stuff.

Okay, forget your problem as soon as I finish counting from 1 to 3. Ready? Here we go... 1...... 2..... and 2.5 ooooooo finally 3!

I will tell you a simple method. Very simple! Just close your eyes.... don't say you don't want to do any Yoga or exercise. I am not going to teach you anything like that. Name it whatever you want. But just do it without getting to know much about the technical terms.

Close your eyes and see yourself flying like a bird... or may be diving like fish in water.... or sitting on the top of a hill or mountain... don't fear... you won't fall... but imagine you are enjoying it all! Just... imagine it!

Now, what? Simply imagine you are the king... errrrrrorrr queen of the worl and ruling it in your peculiar and wonderful ways or just fighting against all the illnesses that you see in this world. Enjoy! You are doing great!

In next 5 minutes.... I guarantee.... you will forget your illness - depression! If you do this every day in the morning and in the evening within 1 month you will be chnaged - transformed! If it doesn't happen then come and kill me! Hahha!!!
