Am i having panic attacks?!

Question: i dont know whats wrong with me, i feel like im going insane and also for no reason at all nervous like my hearts sunk in my chest, i feel like im not getting enough oxygen in my lungs and i feel like i have to concentrate to get enough, my head feels kinda hazy, i cant keep my hands still (there shaking up and down) and i feel like crying for no reason for a moment but then within a few seconds i feel anger. but i dont show my emotions physically(i dont cry and i dont act grieve/show remorse, and i dont flip out), i just sit and breathe slow and try to calm myself which eventually works after i usually smoke a cigarette (usually about 20 minutes i feel kinda normal again). but everywhere ive seen ive heard of panic attacks being as showing physical symptoms like flipping out which i havent done, can anyone please tell me point me in the right direction as to what is wrong with me.. and please dont tell me to see a doctor (i cant afford it and this is my problem not anyone elses)

Yes it could possibly have been a panic attack but could also possibly be caused by stress. If it begins to happen frequently you should definitely consult a doctor.

Here's a great word repetition technique that I learned that helps me to quickly 'snap out' of my panic attacks:

I simply repeat the words 'cream cake' over and over in my head as quickly as I can without stopping. You could use any word you like really but that's the one I chose (because I like cream cakes). It apparently works because it doesn't give your brain time to process the panicky thoughts and so helps you to relax again. Seems strange I know ... but it works for me!

There's also a free ebook that I found really useful called 'Get Rid of Panic and Anxiety for Good'. If you want to take a look you can find it at: http://curepanicattacks.premiergold.info... Even though I got it for free it has helped me absolutely loads!

sounds like panic attacks, try deep breathing when it happens and distract yourself with anything at all, even trying to remember what everyone was wearing yesterday!!! the more you fear the attack the more it comes on so the trick is to catch yourself when u start the whole " oh ****, i feel hot, my hearts racing , im going mad" and if u can get up and walk it off or start talkin to someone. as soon as u are no longer afraid of having attack u wont have them anymore. hope that answers

hey
yeah you are having a panick attack get theses and ive been told that when you have them sit still, and breath into a paper bag( not plastic) and try and slow your breathing down gradully, also try and focus on something around you like i duno a table and keep all your focus on it and this shud help to get some of the emotions out! i havent been able to do this yet i get bad panick atacks but it may be worth a try ok!

are you bipolar?

Sounds like a panic attack to me. If you can't afford a doctor, try to figure out what is usually happening in the situation (ie, a trigger) and why X situation triggers it. If this is constant, manic depression could also be the cause.

My panic attacks can be somewhat controlled depending on where I am and what I'm doing. I've had panic attacks before dealing with confrontational clients. I've felt my heart race, my hands get fidgety, my stomach knots up and sometimes my palms sweat. I wait until after the situation to break down. I take a brief walk and take some deep breaths and tell myself it's ok and it will get better. Sometimes venting to other staff helps me to release that nervous tension I had built up inside.

I just posted to another anxiety question and told them they may want to research Lucinda Basset. I've listened to some of her tapes and it helped me to somewhat understand what's going on with me. I told the other person, instead of investing the money, they may want to check their local library for any of her books/tapes.

Know that you are not alone.

Good luck!

ok, so i had this probably like 3 months back. like literally exactly i felt more of throwing up with the heart sinking thing. there a form of panic attacks. and what you need to do is ( i know your gonna hate this) but you need to see a doctor. if you ahve insurance go to an emergency room. it s not as much money.

also go to a free health clinic. i dont kno how old you are but if your in college go to your health clinic they ll take care of you. umm i know where i am from there are alot of free clinics and you pay like nothing..

you really need to go. it s the only way to get through it. trust me. it s hard you ll prob need to take some medicine. now you can say stop to the anxietes. hold a big sign up in your head and just say no, and than subsitute it with something pleasant and than keep fighting it like that. that s what i do but i am on medicine and the medicine helps so much. it helps you see the light if that s what you want to call it.

the medicine lets your neurons recieve this stop sign message.

try writing your worries down. and than when your done rip it up and while your ripping it up be like i ll just let everything happen, i am an intelligent person iw ill always figure out what i need to do..

now you need to figure out what s giving you these attacks. that s also what the medicine helps with. you got to figure out what s worry you, the writing should help. and when you kno, find reason, find light know your smart you can get through it.

if ya need anymore help just let me know. i m going through this to, i know it s hard and you ll feel like you ll never get through it but know this it s get s worse before it can get better. you ll make it through. promise. i did and that s pretty amazing. i mean i still ahve some hard times but i had to go through some really rough times to get to this point where im almost out.

if you watch lost you ll know what i am talkinga bout, charlie goes through the cave.

what i mean by this is there a catepillar and they go through this process where therere in a coccon, and to get out they need to go through the little hole as a butterfly. but it s a tiny hole. they need to push through they go through hard times to change and everything and than finally it gets harder to get through the small hole but soon there out.

i dont kno if it makes sense. it helped me through it, just to know, that it s normal and i dont kno the image helped.
