What med works best for generalized anxiety?!

Question: I tried xanax and personally it helped me but i found myself freaking out when i neared the end of my packet. Doctors dont generally like to prescribe it because it has a half life of 4 hours so they will try put you on valium which has a half life of 70 hours, didn't work well for me, personally.

Xanax is the best but you will have major problem getting it because its one of the most addictive anti-anxiety medication out there, but although it helped the initial anxiety symptoms id later feel panicy and more nervous than when i was off it. Anxiety is a very complex problem and studies show that just talking about your anxiety can relieve it immensly.

Im weaning myself off all anti-anxiety medication because, anxiety is generally caused by internal or external problems, i suggest long term counselling to address the issues that are causing your anxiety and remember most people suffer from it and your not alone. Anxiety also varies in severity.

I have just learned to live with my anxiety and address the cause of it because im sick of being on so many stupid pills.

Only your doctor can prescribe what is right for you.

Many different medcations are used for general anxiety disorder.

See a lot of them here:

Benzodiazapines. Hands down.

NO MEDS! They can mess you up MUCH WORSE! Try natural methods of exersize, meditation, positive thoughts, living in the moment. Train your mind not to dwell on negitives, look for the positives!

If you want to try something natural, then get st. johns wort. It's herbal, and many people swear by it. I've not tried it as my anti-anxiety med also works for restless legs, and for agoraphobia, sleeping, as well as anxiety. I have all those symptoms in my disorder, so it's taking care of many symptoms simply because of the side-effects. There are other side-effects as well, the withdrawal is horrible. I have to stay on top of how much I have, and will I run out before the week-end is over. Or at holidays do I have enough to get through. Or if my doctor takes a vacation, and a million other things that can get in the way of me having a steady supply. Plus I'm on the highest dosage that can be safely used, but at times I have to take more because what I've used hasn't taken away my restless legs. There is no way to explain how bad RL feels, and nothing else works. But regardless of the side effects and the addiction, that's the best tranq. for me.
