How can I inspire myself to do homework before the late hours of the night?!

Question: I cannot make myself do homework during the day, it's very frustrating. I waste time doing nothing then spend my night doing homework and never get to do things I enjoy, such as watching TV or playing basketball. How can I avoid this vicious cycle and force myself to do homework throughout the day?

Begin by replacing the phrase " I cannot make myself" in your first sentence to "I choose not".

"Cannot" implies that it is out of your hands, or that you are literally unable to complete your homework in a timely manner. This is not the case. You (for whatever reason) are choosing to delay the completion of your homework.

This IS in your control. It is 100% in your control. You can choose to exercise that control, or you can choose to continue with your current plan.

Sounds to me, though, like your current plan is not working very well for you.

It takes about 21 days to build a habit. Decide RIGHT NOW, that you are going to build a habit of diligence with your homework. As soon as you walk in the door, sit down and knock out your homework.

All of it.

Once you're done, put $1 in a jar near to the desk where you do your work. Once you've accumulated enough dollars (or tokens) in your jar, take yourself to the store to celebrate your victory over procrastination.

Start NOW.

You can do it!

Get ambition? No one here can help you, it's you that has to take control of your lazyness.

Start doing it once you get home. I'm in school and I come home do my homework then do whatever else I want, by doing it this way I have time to eat at a normal time then go out before it gets too dark out. I normally get home (around 3:20) go upstairs do my homework (normally finish for around 4:30) maybe go on MSN/Yahoo IM for about half an hour until I go eat then go out around 5:30/5:45. It works out better

Plan your time out, then you know what you want to do after you get your homework done and you'll want to get it done right then and there so you'll have time for the fun stuff later.

You have to set your goals, short and long term goal like why do you need to do your homeworks simple = to complete some part of requirements in studying as a student (short term goal) and why you are studying = a help for/ for better future (long term goal).

just think to yourself "the sooner i start this, & get it done, the sooner i wont have to worry about getting it done" try not to take breaks, & sit in a quiet place w/ no distractions(like people up, & moving around,tv,phone, radio) i used to do my school work the minute i got home instead of putting it off, then i had the rest of the night to do anything i wanted, & wasn't pressured for time.it's a huge relief!
