Do you think depression and anxiety is just a mind game>?!

Question: No, people do get clinically depressed and anxious.
I was depressed and anxiously stressed out, even though I am a devout Christian. It comes from strain due to unmet needs and high expectations.
I asked the Lord to get a hold of my mind and emotions so I wouldn't go crazy.
I forgot about myself, concentrated on Him (God) and worshiped Him. I was released from those feelings. I don't won't to feel like that again!
It's an attack on your mind from inhibitions that want to bring you into captivity and render you helpless, full of self pity and doubt over people and things .

no

I was always raised to believe that in fact yes, these illnesses were something that on could easily overcome with enough mental fortitude. However at the age of 14 my father, the role model that primarily encouraged these beliefs, was diagnosed with clinical depression and workplace induced anxiety. Watching him struggle with his own mental stability taught me that sometimes, regardless of one's will you can't help but have these problems. Sometimes therapy and medication are needed to work through the root issues.

No.

Do I think most people on depression and anxiety medicine need it? No

Depression and Anxiety disorders are very real and hard to cope with. Unfortunatly, everytime life gets a little bit hard everyone thinks they are dealing with depression and anxiety.

Sometimes. Most people can control their thoughts. Also, there are options to deal with depression and anxiety - like exercise, living right, education, that are under utilized because people want to sit back and say "I can't cope, give me some pills. I can't do this" They don't want to put out the effort to improve their lives.

Absolutely not. Depression is a disease, and should not be overlooked. There are ways to help one deal with it and make it more bearable. I overlooked my depression for years before I realized I needed to address it. After taking certain measures to help deal with it I have led a much happier and productive life.

No. if you had ever suffered from either of these conditions yourself you would know just how crippling they
can be.
Also doctors and psychologists take them seriously, which they woudn;t if they were just games.
Also if they were just mind games medication wouldn't help which it is proven most medications do help. Even if the condition clears up without medication it is cetainly no game while you are experiencing it.

No it isn't. There are some things we can do to help ourselves, but it is a chemical imbalance in the brain.

They are serious medical conditions. People die of depression every day. It's called suicide. If you are feeling depressed and anxious, there are many paths to find relief. You deserve that relief. If you had acid reflux or severe heartburn, no one would say, "Oh, you're stomache is just weak so you'll have to suffer in pain. Buck up and take it." It's the same for depression and anxiety. Your mind is your brain. Your brain is an organ in your body. It is as succeptible to illness as any other organ. It's not playing games. Those who tell you otherwise don't understand the brain. But don't be too hard on them. Even those who are experts on the brain are learning new stuff about it all the time. The most important thing is to take care of yourself. Take it from someone who has dealt with depression since age 11: you're no more weak to learn skills for dealing with depression and taking medication for it than someone is for learning new habits and taking medication for diabetes. Be kind to yourself. You deserve it.
