Munchausen by Proxy syndrom?!
Question: i recenly watched a documentary about Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy and what i saw was horrible and made me uncomfortable, has anyone had any experience with this disease? and how did they over come it or survive it if they where a victim of it?

First of all none of this is disease, it is mental disorders. Munchausen syndrome is when a person is constantly seeking attention by being ill, they are ill in their minds but nothing can be found, the the case of proxy it is usually a mother that uses a child for this purpose and often times the mother will do things that are actually physically harmful. With a hypochondriac they just think they have any symptoms they hear and are constantly believing that they might be getting something.
Munchhausen by proxy is somewhat rare. Few people, with the exception of those who specialize in it, have experience along these lines. If you recall the movie The Sixth Sense, one of the children died as a result of this disorder. It is very difficult to overcome if you survive it.
I am a nurse and took care of a kid that was affected by it.. The poor kid was always in the hospital with mysterious illnesses.. One of my co workers reportedly caught the mom inserting things into the child's IV line. I think the mom ended up in jail, and hopefully got some mental health care.. Parents that do this to their children enjoy the attention and pity they get from the child being sick. It was difficult not to be very angry with the mother but in all fairness, she was mentally ill.
