Most def. I have a cousin who takes them and shes doin great

yes you should i take them myself

Try them, you can always stop them, but if you do stop them, you must wean off them, just stopping cold turkey can send you into a tail spin, they are nothing to mess around with.

Guess it depends on how anxious you are. I mean if your doc prescribed it, must mean she/he thought you need it. You can always try them for a while and see how you feel. I was very anxious at one point earlier last year and was prescribed antidepressants for high blood pressure. I never took them and anxiety soon subsided on its own. I had some anxiety over a move and new changes but I knew that I would feel more comfortable after I got used to the situation. If you are having anxiety that is interfering with your daily life, I say try the meds. Maybe you'll feel so much better.

You should follow your doctor's suggestions. If you don't, you are paying somebody a lot of money just so you can rebel and do what you want. You'll probably go crazy if you don't.

Yes, you should. Just be sure to follow the directions exactly (wean yourself into them). And do not stop abruptly, and without talking it over with your doctor. You're also not supposed to drink alcohol while on antidepressants. Report any changes/blurring of your vision, or any thoughts of suicide or harm to others. Good luck.

Yes. IF you have seen a psychiatrist and had a complete psych evaluation. I would not just go on the word of a family physician but it is important to follow up immediately with an evaluation with a professional in this field. Also remember, depression is best treated with therapy and medication. Find a good therapist as well to help you out. It may just mean a few sessions to help you cope with something temporarily. The important thing is to be proactive. Take steps now....

I hope if you are suffering from Depression you must have consulted a well known Psychiatrist. whatever he prescribes please take that.add to your routine good diet of fibber and avoid fatty and junk food. On coke,Pepsi etc.Do your work out regularly and yoga and meditation is a must for you. avoid remaining lonely and be with groups of friends who are your well wishers and keep yourself occupied. Never remain idle.you will be fine cheerful and happy wish you best of health

If you have trouble with anxiety or any other mental illness, you may have to contact and ask for the advice from the specialized one, and for this case you should contact clinical psychologist or psychiatric. Is your doctor GP or psychiatrist? You have to make sure of this.

If you don't want to take the medication, you should discuss it with your psychiatrist. Ask him/her for the side effect if you don't want to take it. Also you can consult with him/her whether your anxiety can be supported only by psychotherapy. What you need is to consult with the pro.

There is a saying in the mental health field; "if the only tool you have in your kit is a hammer, you tend to treat everything as a nail". So it goes with doctors, and their prescription pads: handy, quick, and convenient, when trying to get rid of someone in 10 mns, so they can see the next patient. With anxiolytics (anti-anxiety medication, such as Lexapro, which treats both) you are only addressing the symptoms, and even then, often only temporarily, as your system becomes used to it, and you have to accept the risks of an increased suicide/homicide rate, aberrant behaviour, and side effects, such as possible sexual dysfunction (common). For those reasons, I recommend first trying the alternatives, which not only treat the symptoms, using herbal remedies, but the cause, as well, using EFT, and relaxation techniques. The antidepressants/anxiolytics will still be there, should the alternatives prove insufficient for you. ANXIETY: See anxiety treatments, at ezy build (below) in section 6. Set yourself a fixed limit for worrying about any particular subject, (say; 10, or 15 minutes) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even consider that subject again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. Use the technique for reprogramming negative thoughts and internal monologue (self talk), on pages 2, and 2L, to help you in this: some people carry a wide rubber band in their pocket: put it on their wrist; stretch, and release, as a means of reinforcing it, and speeding up the process, re-pocketing it afterwards, but I regard this as being purely optional. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: "Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself. A certified EFT practicioner is preferable: use the locator above.
