What do you think about this statement about the state of happiness?!

Question: Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means that you decided to see beyond the imperfections. How many of you agree or disagree with it???

Agree. Nothing will ever be absolutely perfect, and often, being happy is a matter of accepting the things that make you happiest, and simply coping with the imperfections as best you can.
I'll counter with another quote, from Abraham Lincoln. "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

i completely agree.

any being who finds happiness in perfection will be a very sad person.
being able to find their joy in things, and disregard the baggage will be much happier, and live a much more fulfilling life.

As a mental health professional with 20+ years experience, now retired, I can say I wholeheartedly agree with you, AND, your definition of happiness is also a wonderful definition for maturity. God Bless you.

works for me. being happy is partially based on knowing that perfection isn't a reality.

Disagree, I believe that to see beyond imperfections does not eliminate them nor particularly lessen them, rather you should accept all the imperfections of life because life itself is imperfect. Good people die doing good things and bad people prosper, but the key is understanding that perfection is not achievable and happiness (which I consider fleeting and prefer the term contentedness) is merely a function of your ability to take into account the difficulties of life, accept them with a realization that humans have a great potential for good and strive for that.
