Are You Sleeping Less these Days?!


Question: I am always tired at work and I do physical running around type of work all day. Can't seem to sleep properly at night, get up at 3 AM to drive my husband to work for 4:30. Get home, stay up and go to work for 7:00. How do you handle it?

Some people need more sleep than others.
I sleep about 6-8 hours a night... (I have an 9 week old.)
I have 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning... half caf.
You didn't state what time you hit the sack at night.
Ever try taking a 40 minute nap?
It might help.
What also may help is evaluating your diet.
Slow carbs aka whole grains give you energy longer than those simple sugars.
Also do you eat breakfast?
Breakfast is the key to getting a good start in the morning.
If you can't get to sleep at night, try a tylenol PM. (On a weekend - just in case you have an adverse affect aka- hangover.)
See if that helps. Of course don't make it habit.
Another note on the diet...are you having caffiene late in the day? It is known to stay in your system 10-12 hours. (Chocolate has caffiene as well as many colas.)

If those 3 options don't help, see a doctor. There may be some other underlying issue/ condition as to your insomnia.

Definitely. I'm exhausted. When I have time I sleep as long as I can, but I still feel horrible. I need to take green tea or something!

You are a real wife and mom. Keep the bills paid and everybody is where they need to be, GOOD 4 U !!! I feel the same way about the sleep thing. I work overnight at a police department answering 911 and dispatching police, fire, and EMS. When I get off at 7 am i rush home and take the kids to school and then come home and sleep till 3 pm. Or at least I would like to, sometimes there are errands to run and such. Then I pick up the kiddos make dinner and get homework out of the way. Then I have to be back at work by 7 pm on Mon and Tues and 11 pm the rest of the week. On my days off Fri and Sat i usually spend Friday trying to catch up on sleep and the rest of the time with my babies. It gets tough, I get tired but that's what love is right? I would not change a thing.... but man do I miss sleep.

I finally started taking Tylenol PM. This was in August. I hadn't had a good nights sleep since 1999. What a difference!

Well honey you are not alone.I have insomnia for the last 2 years .Some nights I sleep better then others I try to concentrate on my breathing and tell my self to relax I start with my feet I tell my self to relax my feet then my left leg and then I star all over tell my self to relax my left food and my right food ,that way I can't think of nothing else and some times It helps and some times It does not .
Don't drink any soda or coffee all day . Get some earplugs and a eyemaske,some soft blankets and pillows.Don't have naps.Take a warm shower before you go do bed.I hope that helps you .
