You are a teenager and your hormones will make you have mood swings. Bipolar is a very serious form of depression (my doc's thought I had it for a while and told me about it, but it turned out I just had major clinical depression, whoopie.) People who are Bipolar go through manic phases where they are going going going all day, and really cannot choose when they settle down. Little to no sleep during manic phases, which can very in length. Then, a depressive phase, with so much sleeping it is almost impossible to get out of bed, losing interest in things, crying, etc. Just from reading your statement you don't sound Bipolar, be thankful. The meds people take to help it are not pleasant, and having a mental illness sucks (I know). HOwever, if you are still worried about it, go see your general practicioner and see what they think.

Could be...Get checked out and see the doctor

Google this : DSM-IV Diagnosis of BiPolar Disorder

That should lead you to the criteria required in the medical field to have BiPolar Disorder.

Self-diagnosis is a dangerous thing. The best thing to do if you feel that you may suffer from a mental illness is seek a consultation with a psychologist.

it is not dumb to think you need to see the dr. how are you going to know what you have if you dont see a dr.

mood swings-- when one minute you are happy and then next minute you are so sad you are crying. when you are manic you are so high you cant get down. you think everything is fine. you think you can do things that you cant. you think everything in your world is peachy.

irritability is a side to being bipolar but you have to have the other symptoms also.

check it out with a doctor first.
