it can be that your stressed about 7th grade or it is what you think about what happened to your grandpa. i past7th grade along time ago (im an 8th grader lol) and i was a little worried when i entered 7th grade because that's officially middle school. my advise, is there any unfilled things you wanted to do before 7th grade (for me its to be an actress by 9th grade) or just wait it out. if you really feel uncomfortable about it then i advise talking to your parents or a doctor or even your favorite teacher who you really trust (if you don't want to tell your parents) Well I'm sorry but i don't know what else to say but i hope my advise works and i hope you feel better ^_^

I think 7th grade can definitely be hard, so don't feel too bad about struggling. Have you told your parents about this? Do you feel like not getting enough sleep is causing the problem? As far as not being able to go to sleep goes I would suggest making sure you don't drink any soft drinks or anything with caffeine a few hours before you go to sleep, don't exercise within a few hours before going to sleep, and if you've been trying to go to sleep for a long time and still can't try getting up and doing something boring for a little bit then try again. It definitely sucks having to get back into the habit of getting up early to go to school and stuff! If you feel like not being able to sleep isn't what's causing the bad grades maybe talk to your teachers and see what they think may be wrong and if they can help. Also, it was a long time ago (I'm in college now) but I remember 7th grade being a lot harder than 6th grade, so you may just need to study a little more and ask friends if they want to get together and study or work on homework or something. Good luck with everything :)

I was one of those kids years ago, so I know it can be devastating when you get a low grade! Sleep deprivation can definitely be one of the culprits, but the key is to change your sleep habits gradually, going to bed 15 minutes or 1/2 an hour earlier for a few nights and then another 15 minutes or so for another few nights and so on. Always get up at the same time each day. Before going to bed at night, set your "internal alarm clock": visualize the clock as a pie chart and the time between when you go to bed and the time you wake up as the part that is shaded in. Absorb this into your mind, that you have 'this much time' between now and the time you get up. Wrap your mind around it like you were picking something up with your hand to get a sense of how heavy it is.

Some other tips:
-don't try too hard. Worrying about the sleep you're losing doesn't help. Instead, get what rest you can, and trust your body.
-if you don't fall asleep in 20 minutes, get up, get a drink of warm milk or water, have a pee, read a chapter (just one) of a book, or something to "reset" yourself. Then try again.
-Maybe try to NOT sleep?
-Try using white noise (TV) or some music to lull you to sleep.
-Stuff your pillow with hops and lavender.
-Eat a plate of turkey before bed :) Turkey is full of tryptophan which, if you've ever over-eaten at Thanksgiving, you know will put you into a "turkey coma."
-Develop a bedtime ritual of washing your face, brushing your teeth, moisturizing, having a cup of herbal tea, etc. before bed. The human machine is a creature of habit, and we like our habits. If you eat at the same time every day and you miss a meal, your stomach growls. Same thing with your sleep routine. You can train yourself to sleep.
-Are you an active kid? Take up a sport or activity that gets you outside and gets you moving! Swimming and piling firewood are two activities that make me sleep like the dead! The key is fresh air. Lots of oxygen. And don't forget to hydrate yourself with plenty of water.
-And finally, try learning to meditate. I read somewhere (sorry, don't have a link) that 20 minutes of certain kinds of deep meditation is equivalent to 3 hours of sleep.

Mention this to your parents, too. They may have some other suggestions.
