Alternatives to Mirtazapine?!

Question: I am taking 20mg of Lexapro in the morning and 45mg of Mirtazapine(Avanza) at night, (this has also been effective for my insomnia).
This combination has been working quite well for over 6 months. However, the Avanza increases my appetite and despite having an active lifestyle I am finding it hard to stay in shape.
Would a better alternative be to taper off the avanza completely and start taking sedatives for the insomnia and (if needed) increasing the amount of Lexapro?

Hi. Frankly it's not advisable to adjust one's dosage of any medicine without checking with your doctor first. You could highlight your concerns about avanza to your doctor and ask him to suggest alternatives. He's the most suitable person to advise you as he knows your condition best
