Sexual abuse question?!

Question: What do you think the percentage is involving a victim of sexual abuse and finally finding their attacker?

Answers: What do you think the percentage is involving a victim of sexual abuse and finally finding their attacker?

1 in 3 woman are abused and 1 in 5 men are

Most people that are abused KNOW there attacker

Depending on the situation and setting, it's hard for most victims to see their attackers because the majority are at night. Hard to say, might want to check with some sort of police department.

The percentage will vary depending upon whether or not the victim searches for the perpetrator or not. Many victims who recover believe it is better to just move on and stop searching for vengeance...

Most people who are sexually abused are abused by people they know. The abusers are usually male: a father, uncle, brother or boyfriend. It is not common for people to be attacked by someone they don't know.

The difficult part about this for the victim is that, because she knows the person who assaulted her, it may be difficult for her to file a police report or take other action to stop the abuse.

Hi,

You're asking for numerical statistics, which I haven't looked up recently. Various studies report different results anyways.

I suspect you're wondering about more than you're asking.

Totally agree with the above posting that indicates that stranger attacks are very rare. But take the "she" applying to the victim, and change it to "she/he".

I think that if parents are very conscious of their kids' reactions to uncles/friends/etc., and then being non-judgmental with their kids, it will help a lot in finding the attacker.

well, i was abused as a child by my own brother, so ive known him all my life, he is disowned now, and i really dont care what happends to him at all, he destroyed me until i learnt to trust men again and now i have a family of my own, im passed it now,

u see my guess is that most people who have been sexually abused know their attackers like me, and most sadly dont come forward and tell their story

I'm under the assumption that "sexual abuse" occurs over a period of time, while "rape" can be a one-time occurrence. You said it took years to find your attacker, did you not know him before he "attacked" you? If you did not then it was rape, not sexual abuse. Now that you have found him I would think you would want to prosecute him rather than write a book about him...! But, that's just me...
