I get sad and overeat?!

Question: When I get depressed I overeat
And I seem to do it alot now.. like everyday
I tell myself okay today i'm going to eat normally
then something happens like an argument with my family or I randomly just feel depressed about myself or my body
and I over eat again
I can't help it
I used to do it every few weeks
but I've been doing it numerous times a day for about 2 weeks straight now and I'm not able to stop myself and im getting worried about it

I'm goin to go to a counciller because I'm having problems at school but I do not know why I am so upset and feel depressed all the time because I know there are many more people with worse problems than mine.
But with everything that goes wrong I get so down and I turn to food even though I know I dont actually want to eat it I still do

Im just 5"2 and weigh 7.4st and Im told im not fat but i feel it
and then i binge

I dont really know what im asking

I think I just want to write down some form of explanation of how i'm feeling right now..yeh

I think you have done a good thing by writing out your problem - it will make you feel better.
I also overeat when down. And like you, its happening a lot lately! Cant seem to stop myself.

Try distract yourself when you next want to overeat, even something as simple as watching tv for a few minutes to take yr mind off it.

Have you told yr counseller how you are feeling? If not, you should. Also write your thoughts down. it will help.

I know you feel alone and feel like no one understands how you are feeling but know that others are going through the same thing. Thats why i think this online answers is good!

remember negative thoughts lead to negative emotions so try (I know its hard!) to think positively.

Good luck!

PS: Is that you in the picture? If it is, you look great!

Everyone has something to take them away from the way they feel...i usually play the piano..instead of eating you should try finding sumthing else to do ...read a book? i don know or play video games

if that's you in the picture it sure doesn't look like you got a eating problem. Anyway you could possibly blow up before you know it if you keep that habit up, try going to the gym, it will release natural chemicals that will make your mood better and you will look better, and therefore you will feel better bout yourself.

You are not alone - a lot of people reach for food when they need comforting because certain foods or eating in general have been comforting since infancy.

It's good that you are going to see a counselor. Before you go, you may want to write down what you want to talk to the counselor about. It's easy in an appointment like that to go onto a new topic and not get all of your questions and issues addressed.

i do the same exact thing.
