Self-medicating with antidepressants?!

Question: A few days ago I got pissed off and decided that anti depressants were BS and a waste of time. So now it's a few days later and I was feeling wicked depressed so I took three instead of the one I'm supposed to take daily. Does that work effectively as a triple dose?

If I decide to suddenly stop again how will I know what withdrawal symptoms are?

I am still depressed. And I would still say I was suffering from depression. I think my dosage should probably increased anyways.. but I'll run out of pills earlier if I self-medicate and double or triple up on days.

Advice anyone?

Depends actually... there are numerous classes of anti-depressants and several drugs in each one. Before I continue with the answer, which anti-depressant are you on? That would be the largest factor in determining the effects of dosing...

(Though, its typically not a good idea to exceed the prescribed dose)

You need to see the doctor that prescribed you the pills, tell them that you need a larger dosage and then TAKE THEM!

Self-medicating with anti-depressants is a bad idea. Changes in dosage or stopping/starting them suddenly can cause all sorts of problems.

Contact the doctor that prescribed them for you and tell them that you went off them and why you thought that would be a good idea and why you went back on them.

Maybe you just need an adjustment in your dosage to bet back on track.
