Prozac ?????!

Question: Is there any possiblity that prozac could cause a heart attack?.
I have read on other websites that prozac can cause heart damage and heart failer. Is this true?.

Reason being someone close to me was on prozac for a long time then one day he had chest pains which he confused for heart burn and he took something for the heartburn went and rested fell asleep and never woke up.

I am not looking to point a finger or blame i just trying to find out the truth of these claims about prozac.

I have also read bad things about ssri,s and all the claims behind them. I now feel that the very people who give us these meds are not interested in our health or well being i believe they are more interested in money.

If you could answer my question about prozac causing heart failer or heart damage i would be greatfull.

I would also like to hear your views on the above.

I think with all drugs there are some side effectsd and you have to weigh the benefits against the drawbacks. I do think the health professionals find it quicker easier and cheaper to rely on drugs rather than seek other therapies.
Clinical trials have shown that drug therapy combined with counselling is the most effective form of therapy.
Exercise can help at it increases seratonin levels in the brain.

This is completely true. i've seen it on the news numerous times, so it's pretty bad.

There appears to be conflicting results from at least two studies on people with heart failure and depression.

One states that people with heart failure and depression do worse than those without depression.

Other studies say Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, such as Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft, the most commonly used class of antidepressants, have a good effect on heart outcome.
