Serious answers, please. What do you think of marijuana for anxiety?!

Question: Hi.
Just something I'd like to ask about. I've smoked a bit in the past with friends in school and such. I've had a few stressfull events and get wound up sometimes in the evening, and now there's a serious illness in my family. My husband thinks that during this time a few special brownies would be of some help, rather than going to a doctor for some Xanax or thing like that.
I already take Wellbutrin with good results for mild depression and ADHD. I don't want to add more pills, but would like to just be able to calm the hell down sometimes.
Thanks if you know anything about the helpfulness of trying this!!

If you are taking a med for mild depression and are feeling a lot of anxiety, that "relaxing high" is apt to turn into a paranoid downer. That's the way dope works too often. You are better off stopping by the gym on the way home to blow off some steam.

If you are someone who got a little anxiety relief starting Wellbutrin, go ask you doc to increase the dose for a while to help you deal with the situation. If not, then consider switching to an SSRI. They are often used as antianxiety meds.

If you go for an antianxiety med, ask for Klonopin (longer lasting) or Ativan. Xanax is the most addictive. Make sure you stay at a low dose!

Last, if your depression only is mild, give serious thought to therapy. There's a good chance that it will eliminate your need for meds which is well worth while.

alright for the attack but what you going to do when you're coming down, take more. It can get into a vicious circle and you'll end up doing it everyday. Believe me I know. Better not to start at all. Try more realistic therapies like chi kung, tai chi, even breathing properly.

Seriously NO its going to mess you up sooner or later, go to the Dr, look into talking treatments like counselling or cbt cognitive behaviour therapy may help with depression & anxiety.

It will probably change the way that the wellbutrin works for you. You want to try to avoid things that will interact with what you're already on, especially if what you're on works well for you. I think the suggestion of learning breathing techniques is a very good one. Perhaps get a yoga video you can do at home would also be a good option.

passes the bowl.

I think you are using your anxiety in order to justify your use of MJ, LOL
