Reccommend a book for spouses of people with depression?!
Question: Hello. I have been diagnosed with depression. I am also bipolar and manic. I am looking for a book for my husband so he can understand my condition better. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Great book:
Undoing Depression
The first 2 or 3 chapters explains what is going on in a depressive's head better than anything else I've read (and that's quite a bit). Have your spouse read that. You should read the WHOLE book...the rest talks about the depressed habits we get into and how to help yourself address them and replace them with more positive, constructive ones. Sorry I can't help with bipolar disorder, but you definitely need to be on meds for it. Don't try to just "tough it out" . It's a chemical problem that has nothing to do with how tough or weak you are.
In an nutshell, get treatment. GOOD LUCK.

Jamison is both a clinical psychologist and a bi-polar sufferer.
