Anger outbursts?!

Question: My step sister just destroyed 2 magazines by ripping them up, and screaming no and kinda crying, and now she is just sitting there quietly doing her project? Why is she like this? She ussually cries, but I've never seen her this angry and she had a different voice too, she also broke a plate earlier and cut her hand open with it, she says she is stupid b/c she wants attention, and she cuts herself also for attention? Why is she like this? We are very close?

she could possible be bipolar or have borderline personality disorder...more likely the second one because borderlines have attention seeking behavior and cutting behavior

google "symptoms of borderline personality disorder" and see if you think it fits and definitely tell your parents..she needs help very badly..this will only get worse

she has a lack of chemicals in her brain called seratonin, thats why she is like this..its nothing u did or didnt do..its a mental disease..it would be like her having cancer or diabetes or cancer but in this case it has to do with her brain, not her body.

good luck and be there for her?

sounds like she needs medical attention. sounds like a chemical imbalance.

I'm guessing that you are very young. If so, tell your parents immediately. She needs help.

easy. tell her you will do the same if she doesnt stop. if she loves u she'll stop :)

I think she does need attention...she should probably see a psychologist for counseling. I don't know if medication would be warranted or not. The doctor can make that determination.

What do your parents say about her behavior? Do they know she cuts herself? If they are opposed to her seeing a professional, then tell her that she can always talk to her school guidance counselor and they can either help and/or convince the parents that medical help is needed for her. I'm sure she will be just fine once she can start counseling. You're a sweetheart for trying to help her out!
