A person who used to enjoy walking outdoors, but since she fell, she is afraid?!

Question: I know this is not the same thing, but maybe this will help anyway...

I got in a really bad accident a few years ago, and a good friend of mine told me that the first thing I should do when I recover is drive....so I did....not thinking it would be a big deal....

Oh my God! It was such a big deal, but it was then that I realized I had to keep doing it to get over the bad experience. Although I still have my moments (few and far between as they are) when coming to an intersection to turn, for the most part, I'm just fine.

Tell her not to take too big of a step....when I drove again for the first time, I only drove a couple of blocks to the store and back....maybe she should try walking a block or maybe 1/2 block and work her way up from there...

....one thing for sure: she has to do it...

Find a friend to walk with you.

ok
don't take dificult walks at first
walk in flat areas
with little traffic
but enough to help you feel safe if you did fall and need help
and just take it easy at first
no need to rush things

Find a loved one to walk with
If u trust them, you will feel safe and dont let your fear overcome the beauty of a nice walk
Good luck
i hope it all works out!

You know what I'm going to say....Get her a tread mill...Look in the paper for a used one at half the cost. You should show her the slow way to use the machine.

go and face your fears.one of the most important thing a person must have is the spirit and guts to never give up!you enjoy walking outdoors... just because u fell you dont want to walk outdoors again?! DONT BE AFRAID.. FACE YOUR FEARS!

She could fall in her kitchen, she could fall while at the store. If she is afraid of falling again, have her take a cell phone and a walking cane and get back to enjoying the outdoors... I wouldn't think twice about it.
