Should I share my feelings with my psychiatrist?!

Question: I no longer see therapists and I have difficulty deciding whether it is best or not to stick with some things. Sometimes I am either mad about something or I don't have feelings one way or another about it, which confuses people. I am either too emotional, or I seem to not have any emotions, to people. I also have some anger and sadness feelings occassionally about a lot of things, even though I am on meds. I accidently broke one of my windows cuz I threw something so hard. I didn't know I broke it until recently. But would it be stupid to share how I feel with my psych, even if he is just for med management? The meetings are usually only for 15-30 minutes. i don't know how he'd respond. I think therapists and nobody else cares as much as I want them to. Earlier today I thought about how much I hate people and that I can't trust them to care, and most friends I meet never stay in my life. Would it matter whether or not I was diagnosed with a personality disorder?

I think you should speak to your psychiatrist. It seems to me that you are having difficulty hanging on to life.It could be that you are going through some tough times. Possibly with your family, relationships or it could be even your self esteem is low.Your psychiatrist is there to help you and hopefully he will understand you as well. Sad to say not all do though. You may have a borderline personality disorder.I am not a dr so I can not tell you for sure but it is what I suspect from reading what you wrote.

Yes, you should definitely share your feelings with your psychiatrist. How else is he/she supposed to know what is going on with you to be able to treat you? The psychiatrist should answer your question as to what your diagnosis is, not people on yahoo. We don't know you. And please don't mistake my bluntness for not caring, because I am a caring person, I am just being honest with you. It is not stupid to share how you feel with your psychiatrist, that is what he is there for. That is the purpose of you going to see him in the first place. He needs to be able to make an appropriate diagnosis to be able to manage the meds correctly. You should also get a counselor or psychologist to talk out your feelings with because the psychiatrist will only spend about 30 min with you (unless you tell the scheduler that you need an hour appointment for diagnosis rather than med management). But this will only be a one time appointment. If you want someone to talk to on a regular basis you should find a counselor for that. And true, alot of them do not care the way you may want them too. They are paid to listen to you. That's what they are there for. And to give you advice when you want it or need it. Take it for what its worth and get the most out of it you can. If you want to talk to someone who really cares about you personally, you will need to talk to a family member, clergy member, or a really good friend. But, they usually say that you need both therapy and meds together to get better, not one or the other.
