Let's forget labelling the problem. The important things are: does your behaviour interefere with normal function and does it distress you. Do you think the behaviour is spirelling out of your control? If your answer to any of those questions is 'yes' then plse go and have a chat with your doctor.

Obsession is always a sign of mental ill-health to certain extent and to be compulsively obsessive is a serious mental disposition. Nothing in life goes as expected and the world will not conduct itself as we wish and such people will then suffer a lot because of their attitude.

Analyse why you want it that way always and without fail and what happens to your interests if it deviates. You will laught at your own attitude! Then is it not better to think and do things in a way as everybody does? If you want to be different select certain areas like studies, selecting a life-partner; building a house etc. If you want to be different in all the activities in day to day life, you know the answer!

Marge R is right. The label doesn't matter as much as whether this is a problem in your life. There are spots in life where being a little obsessive about things is a benefit. I know if I were flying on a commercial airline, I would feel better if the person who inspected the aircraft were a little obsessive about their job. If it interferes with your life, get some help from a mental health professional.
