yes,i work at a science museum,and this is a fact.schitzophrenics have a higher than average incedence of reacting positively for a test for a disease that can be caught if u are pregnant and u clean the litterbox of an infected cat(it affects the unborn baby)..so,does this disease cause or contribute to schitzophrenia?looks that way.dont get rid of ur cat tho.indoor cats dont get it,it is only caught if they eat infected mice.u can get a simple blood test to make sure ur cat doesnt have it .and the cat can be cured simply with antibiotics..it can also be caught by children playing outside in the dirt and then putting fingers in their mouth.i cant recall the name of the disease,but u can ask,someone on yahoo answers will remember.anyway,we had a big lecture about parasites /illnesses that can change behaviour,and this one was mentioned as being higher among schitzophrenics than is statistically probable.it is thought the illness doesnt cause the mental illness per se,but perhaps unlocks a gene in genetically susceptable individuals.,that brings the disease on.not everyone who has toxoplasmosis will become schitzophrenic.most people never know they have had it in childhood-unless u are pregnant,it is only a mild flu-like illness.
umm do u have skitzo? obviously not, are u sure its okay to be mocking people like that? i didnt know having skitzo personality disorder is fun? maybe you might wanna elaborate a little more of what kinda project you are doing? are you in HS?
Its not really terrible if your doing it for the right reason which is to gain the attention of others to inform them of the danger of schizophrenia if one doesnt take their meds.
I dont know any fun facts but I do know instances when a person suffering from schizophrenia is so delusional that they think people are coming after them.
My son was recently in mental instituitons for bipolar disorder and when I went to visit him others there would come over to me while I was waiting for him. It is against the rules for them to do that but I didnt feel it was my place to tell them to go away. Im just not like that. So anyway, this girl came over to me who was suffering from schizophrenia and she wanted me to hide her because she thought the FBI was coming to take her away. She subsequently went into the rec room and hid behind the soda machine and no one there could find her until I pointed. It was sad so I really cant say it was funny but it may get their attention. Dont get schizophrenia mixed up with MPD Multiple personality disorder. A lot of peeps confuse the two.
