Why is my life so hard? ADHD hurt me?!

Question: Always getting kicked out of class for talking too much. By the time i was in the 7th grade my school Suggested that me and my mother see a phyciatrist/therapist to analyze me. He did, and two weeks later told my mother and i have ADHD. We finally had our answer that would hopefuly save me. Well my mom started asking around, other parents and friends if it was a good idea to put a little boy on mind-altering medication. Well the majority of her friends told her that it's not a good idea. She was so used to my wild happy personality that she didn't want to take it away. I found that selfish because it still doesn'y solve my issue. Well its been about 6 years and i'm supposed to be a senior in highschool, but i have sophmore credits. I have been kicked out of so many schools and so many classes. Every year when i take the cat6 i get 90% on all subjects. Till this day my mom tells me " you don't need medicine kevin you just need to stop being bad" she wont help.

if you plan on helping yourself
you should of helped yourself already.

only a few people with ADHD can help themselves
without medication because it's a mild case of it.

but most cant. you need to get on medication soon,
the people who said stimulants are bad are total idiots.
ADHD is caused by a brain chemical imbalance and multiple functions of the brain don't work at the right times...or works too much.

like the motor function, which is why the hyperness you get is so bad.

trust me, i thought i could help myself without it from 7th-9th, and all i did was fail miserably. i'm surprised i actually was ablt to pass those grades. but i'm paying the price for only earning 4.5 credits from 9th grade now that i will be a senior soon....
so no, you can't truly fix it without stimulants.

you cannot stop being bad, it's because of your brain
but if you want me to be honest, ADHD are more likely
to be smarter than people without it...
so what, some may not be awesome in school,
but it's because we're not getting the right attention and whatnot so it covers up our talents.

i am a junior now, and like.....last march i finally got on meds
and well it was hard to tell if it totally worked because my bipolar disorder was forming and whatnot...

but now, i'm on adderall....my last semester grades were all A+'s except one that was a 91. so yeah, it's possible that when you truly get the right help, you shine so bright.

stimulants help people who actually have ADD/ADHD
but they just make somebody without the disorders high.

but you know what?
your moms friends are all idiots, they probably said no
just for the fun of it.....and your mom, no offense, isn't very smart. if she knew that you probably had ADHD, then she should of gotten you the right help. not just shrug it off because her friends, who probably didnt know anything about stimulants, said they were bad...

but you know what? there's hope for ya.
buy probably 2 packs of red bull or monster every week.
one can of red bull equals a small amount of Ritalin
which is a stimulant used to treat ADD or ADHD.

your wild personality could of been calmed a long time ago, and yeah, you'd still have that wacky charm....because i still have it even though i take meds. i'm no different, i can just focus better and i can sleep better.

but anyways
drink coffee or red bull orrrrr monster.
i love monster, i drink it when i run out of my adderall.
and i think monster is probably the best because of
what kind of amino acids and whatnot is in it.

BUT if you like full throttle....get the sugar free kind.
that's better for you....but monster is okay :]

i'm not entirely sure why high amounts of caffeine
have the reverse effect on people with ADD/ADHD
but it does. so if youve have an energy drink or coffee before [probably even mountain dew or mr.pibb extra] and you got all calm but didn't know why....it's because of the adhd.

but you need to talk to a counselor at your school about this.
tell her/him that your mom knows you have ADHD
but did not want to take your "wild personality" away
and refuses to let you have treatment and you're really
getting kicked in the butt for her laziness and bad parenting.
i'm sorry, but don't get mad i said that...cause that's what it truly seems like.

and ask for him/her to talk to your mother about this.
you can't control this without proper treatment on stimulants.
yes, caffeine helps, but it's not something you should be doing forever.

stimulants ARE good. they are GREAT.
oh and they aren't "mind alternating medication"
cause if it was, i wouldn't have the quirky charm still
or be able to make anybody laugh, or be able to keep myself busy if i'm alone and whatnot.

all they do is balance the chemical imbalance out
and be able to turn down your motor function a few notches
and let you be able to concentrate and be calm for about 9-12 hours a day. seriously, i wouldn't be taking the stuff if it would make me a zombie. i still can run 5 miles if i truly wanted to when i'm hyper just like i could when i wasn't on meds. trust me, they will help you a lot.

hope this helps.

p.s.
since she has refused to listen to family AND
staff from your school, talk to your counselor
about being able to get treatment without consent of your mother because she is refusing treatment to make your life better. or just call the cops. they won't haul her away, but they WILL make sure you get treatment.

Well, there is a lot of controversy about the med, ritalin. And it does have some unpleasant side effects on some. But, on whole, it seems to work. Allows a person to be calmer and concentrate on learning.

It's ashame you're mom feels that way.

You're old enough now to go to the doc by yourself and see about getting the med. I'd give it a shot if I were you. Be a hassle, might not work, but if it did, would be worth it.

Good luck.

your mom is wrong.............................i have a grandson with ADHD...with the meds he has become stable and is doing very good in school...with the help of his teacher which understands what he has...without the meds his life was a living hell....if your mom won't help see a counselor at school and explain...you don't deserve this...it is nothing that you have done.....its a chemical imbalance......you hang in there and search till you find someone to help you....grandparents etc.....your mom is not helping you here....

dont sweat it i have the same problem. we and others just like us need to chill and worry about the future wen he get there. but just enjoy the time you got to not worry about anything. and meds do help i used them but i wasnt the silly kid i was b4. just relax and everything will take care of itself.

and wen it comes to mom all you gotta do is be as crazy as you can to her so she could get really mad. i do that all the time.

i have ADD and i always thought i was fine until the 2nd grade teachers where telling me to payy attention and i thought i would be i used to have all As and Bs because of tests and then 5th grade oh boy f c b d ai cand belive how it has gotten me in so much trouble. i just wanna be....calm....i cant i just cant then i went to the doctor and he told my mom it will make me have better gradesand all that stuff and well what im tring to say is go to a doctor and tell them your mother isnt putting you on the meds because i think they can help with that. iknow its not your fault its not u didnt ask for ADHD but you will make it thourgh i promise

The single classification of meds most closely associated with the temporary reduction of ADHD symptoms is the central nervous system stimulants - alerting agents. The weakest is coffee - caffeine compounds; stronger meds include Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, etc. A med for ADHD works for some persons, not everyone. In some cases, the right choice is to be med-free. Good luck.

Try not to let selfish people bring you down. You can still be a lawyer by going to a community college first and then transferring. Try not to let your life stay this way and pick your head up and move on regardless of your past. Sounds like you need a vacation. Maybe you could plan a senior trip somewhere or something. Or if you don't have the money, buy a bag of cookies...that always is a temporary mood fixer. :D I'm just kidding with you

I've had problems with ADD and depression and a bunch of other stuff.
I'd love to talk to you about it.
