Was this the right thing to do in your opinion?!
Question: There is this kid me and my mom know who works at a local convenience store that we visit every morning to get coffee. He's always working there. We've kind of made friends with him. He's really funny- but, extremely strung out. It's obvious he's hitting up the greeeen if you know what I mean. So we've known him since the beginning of this school year. A few days ago, we were talking small talk while he rung us up and he said something about how all of his nose hairs are gone from smoking, and my mom goes "smoking, that's not healthy!" and he goes "oh i don't care, i want to die" and my mom's like "whaaat why would you say that?!" and he's like "yeah, life sucks." and i made eye contact with him, and i swear, his eyes looked so sad. we had to leave, because other people were in line beind us, but we felt really bad about what he said.

That's so sweet. Even a small gesture like that can completely light up someone's day, even light up someone's life! That is SO sweet of your mom! My mom's a nurse, too, and I think she probably would have done the same thing.
We need more people like yall in this world:)!
That was very cool of your mom. One reason many people kill themselves is because they think no one cares about them. Your mother's action may have saved his life.
I would and do think it's a nice gesture. Sometimes knowing there's someone to talk to and someone who cares is enough.

It was the right thing to do. Being kind and concerned for other people is never a wrong choice. Your mom was giving, but not intrusive. She let him know that someone cared about him. Maybe he is fine and just saying stuff to be saying it, but you never know. Sometimes one kind gesture can change a person's life. You have a good mom.

Yes, your Mom did the best thing that she could do. You could try to go to the store sometime without your Mom. Maybe hang out with him for a little while; let him know how great of a person he really is and how much the two of you think about him. I think that would be really important to him too. I am sure that he did not mean he was going to kill himself. He is probably just a normal moody, depressed teenager trying to use marijuana as an escape method. He may have been through some terrible stuff. If he feels comfortable enough with you, he just might let you in on those incidents. Although they may hurt you to hear, they will lift a tremendous weight off his shoulders. Try to get through to him so that he knows he has real people that care about him.
Aww thats such a sweet thing for your mother to do!I would have done the same thing!I helped my classmate get out of his "Suicidal Phase" and we became really close friends.Just get to know the person and they'll snap out of it!
