fluoxetine works a treat for me! took about 3 weeks to feel completely normal again but felt slightly lifted in just a few days :)

worked on and off for a while. stopped taking it becasue it never worked.

Try citalopram thats what i am on. been on it for years. evan though you took citalopram did it work. i know lots of drugs take several weeks for them to work properly.I think prozak was one of the first drugs i had for depression. stopped working after a while. my body must have got used to it. I think prozak has had some bad press recently, not sure. I know one of the drugs for depression has had lots of bad press. Have a look.
Hope you feel better soon

prozac is not meant to be taken for long term....i carry it in my purse for panic attacks.....please talk to the pharmist or dr...for second opinion......

I took it several years ago. Took 3 days to start feeling it. By a week I felt almost euphoric, then a week later it settled down and was mild. It worked pretty well for me even though there were some side effects (mild headaches).

Different people react differently to the SSIs though. You should at least give it 2 weeks, unless the side effects are too much. If it doesn't work by then call your doctor to try something different. The key with antidepressants is to match the right drug to the right person, which takes trial & error.

It takes about 1-2 weeks, more around 1, I have been on it before and thats how long it took me, but we are all differant.

Worked better than any I have ever tried-give it 2 weeks to start to feel an effect.

Didn't work for me AT ALL. I was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, and also manic depressive, and when I took prozac, I flipped out (anger wise) on a few people. Other people have said it works though. Keep in mind that everyone's body's are different.

All anti-depressants take time. Serontonin levels are not built up overnight. Give it time. The change will be gradual, but it WILL come. I was on Lexapro. Worked like a charm. Sadly, it caused my hair to start falling out and I had to go off of it. (BTW, my hair came back.....) Good luck.

It can take 2-4 weeks to work, and your starting dose might not be enough. Be patient, even if that's not exactly what you want to be right now. I'd tell you my experience, but it turns out I have bipolar which explains why it was as horrible as it was.

It worked very well for me. It took about four to five weeks to kick in.

Been on and off depression all my life and medication. Prozac only really works for clinical depression ie.to get you to work or where ever and so you're just able to function physically. It doesn't really take away the depression.I found when the depression was really bad it blocked emotions which also felt awful cos I couldn't feel nothing. It takes me about 2-3 weeks to work but others may take longer.

i took it a few years ago when i was having marital problems it took a week or so to start working i stopped taking it because i felt motionless and i also lost quite a bit of weight which wasnt good as i am 5ft 9" and already weighed 9stone.

i have been taking Prozac for 3 weeks and it hasn't worked yet. hope you have better luck with it!
